Radio Daze – Braids & PUP at #1

Having a #1 beside your name is a great feeling. Heck, having any number above 50 is a really great feeling. This week both PUP and Braids have the distinct pleasure of topping the charts; PUP debuting their latest single “Reservoir” on CBC’s R3-30 and Braids new disc Flourish // Perish sitting pretty on !earshot’s Top 50.

But the fun doesn’t stop there.  This week 5 more Killbeat releases cracked the R330′s top 10:

#5 The Darcys “The River”
#6 Dustin Bentall & The Smokes “You Are An Island”
#7 The Pack A.D. “Battering Ram”
#9 Federal Lights “I See Love”
#10 Royal Canoe “Bathtubs”

And let’s not forget Les Jupes at #19 with “Hold Me Down”, Jane’s Party at #18 with “Hideaway“, and Still Life Still’s “In Enemies” at #16.  Who says there’s nothing good on the radio?

As if that wasn’t enough for one week Braids latest disc, Flourish // Perish (Flemish Eye), made the jump to #1 on !earshot’s top 50. Given the excitement from Braids’ summer EP In Kind // Amends, the new full length was bound for success. Also in the top 10, Royal Canoe’s Today We’re Believers at #8, and Rae Spoon’s My Prairie Home at #10. Two new releases found their way in to the top 50 this week as well. At #37 The Pack A.D. Some Sssongs and Little Miss Higgins Bison Ranch Recording Sessions at #45.

The sad thing about this week though is that we’re one week closer to actual end of summer.  Wouldn’t it have been nice to get out more time before it’s officially over?  One more weekend on the town? one last canoe trip?  Well if you can’t make it out for that last hurrah, you can at least live vicariously through Chris Velan’s new video for album single “The Long Goodbye”.  He didn’t mean to trash the canoe though, honestly.

Well we’ve finally done it, facebook deleted our old group and after we sulked in devastation for a while, we have created a new page. So if you’re not a fan of twitter or soundcloud, we’d like it if you like us.
