GreenTaRA

“Global Baby” is the follow-up release to GreenTaRA’s debut album “Music For A Mixed Nation”. The album serves up a delectable menu of the soulful music and spicy lyrics for which this artist has quickly become known. Produced by Scott Sanft @ Demitone Studios in Vancouver, “Global Baby” features GreenTaRA and her crew of musical guests including emcees Ndidi Cascade, Kia Kadiri and Belladonna, drummers Shadikka Kocicka and Tim Proznick, bassist Scott Paulley, co-producer Chi Turner, plus horns, strings, scratch and percussion.
Armed with a rare voice, a red Epiphone Riviera and a penchant for social awareness, GreenTaRA brings a refreshing taste of reality to the modern soul music arena. The jury’s in on the lead off track “Get Up”, an intellectual love song with an uplifting message over a gospel-inspired R&B beat and DJ Phonograff on the decks. The second song, a bumping R&B anthem called "Figure It Out" hits you with old-skool funk, juicy horns and tight vocal harmonies. After hearing timeless songs like “Revolution Time”, the retro head-nodding “Doin' It” and reggae-inspired tracks like “Controller” and “From The Moment We Drop” you’ll be ready to play “Global Baby” again.
As a soloist or front woman for her trio, this Vancouver-based artist of African-American/Cherokee and Scottish descent delivers jazz-laced listening and soul-melting lyrics over funk riffs and reggae feels. Named "Best of the Fest" in music at the 2007 Austin Woman's Film, Music & Literary Festival, GreenTaRA is also a regional representative for the Urban Music Association of Canada. GreenTaRA has performed at the United Nations and the legendary Nuyorican in NYC, Fete de la Musique in Berlin, the Frostbite Music Festival, Baltimore Music Festival, the Vans Warped Tour, and tours worldwide sharing the stage with artists such as Michael Franti, Jully Black, Kelis, K-os, K’naan, Medusa, and De La Soul. GreenTaRA will be on tour across Canada and the world this fall and beyond.
