With his debut solo album due out next week, Colyn Cameron is sharing the video for album cut “Hallucinations” via Exclaim!. Directed by Cameron, his goal was to “make a mini western themed sequence of moments that capture the intimacy and vulnerability of being imperfect whilst in love. I wanted to humorously reveal the defeat of the main male character.” Together with cinematographer Madison Rowley, the video was shot in the “truest wild western canyon we could find east of Portland, Oregon.“
Set for release on October 12, Sad & Easy is a collection of songs that arose from the experience of being firmly rooted in one place, allowing for a more patient approach to writing and recording. Self-produced and recorded direct to 1/2" tape in his small studio apartment, the album is an outpour of Colyn’s artistic experimentation, fusing influences of the late 60’s and calling to mind the likes of David Vandervelde or Christopher Owens.
Following an international tour and the release of Wake Owl’s last album Kaleidoscopes in 2017, Colyn returned to a rather average lifestyle, uncovering the muse that would guide his first solo release during the downtime of his 9-5. After spending the last 10 years living in different places and always feeling a little restless, Colyn found a home base in Los Angeles, one that felt alive enough to quell desire to flee, while still keeping a challenge in the foreground.
