PONDERCAST LIVE TOUR DATES BEGIN OCTOBER 9
After celebrating Pondercast’s first birthday this past weekend, Laurie Brown is ready to take the podcast into Season 2 with the first episode called You Make Me Feel. And if you finished that line with ‘like a natural woman’ you are already in the zone!
When Aretha Franklin died, Toronto’s Choir!Choir!Choir! jumped into action. Daveed Goldman and Nobu Adilman started Choir!Choir!Choir! as a weekly drop-in singing event at a bar. Buy a beer AND learn a pop song in 3 part harmony. Sing your heart out and go home happy. To celebrate Aretha Franklin, they found a bigger hall and we all jammed in and poured all our love and sadness into singing “You Make Me Feel (Like a Natural Woman)”.
And when the night was done - everyone hit Queen Street West and sang it outside on the street. Watch the group singing here.
Nobu and Daveed have created something beyond their wildest aspirations in Choir!Choir!Choir! Beyond the singing, they have created a charitable foundation and they are doing such great work there. See what singing together can accomplish? In Season 2 Episode 1 you will hear Laurie’s interview with Nobu and Daveed and hear 500 very amateur singers belting out one of the songs that Aretha sang so amazingly.
This fall, Laurie Brown will take Pondercast on the road for the first time with a series of dates throughout the East Coast and Toronto. With her will be Pondercast collaborator Joshua Van Tassel creating live soundscapes while Laurie spins a new Pondercast on how to stay human as the world tilts in new and strange ways. All the intimacy of her much-loved CBC radio show The Signal, but live, in a room filled with fellow explorers. Full tour dates and tickets can be found below.
Pondercast is for explorers – it guides you to the clouds for a mind-bending view. Laurie Brown (formerly of CBC’s The Signal) sparks some new thoughts as the soundscapes of Joshua Van Tassel help you ponder the night, being human, and, of course, music.
