This fall, Vancouver’s Yukon Blonde will head out on the road with Rural Alberta Advantage, hot on the heels of their new single “Crazy”. Tour dates begin October 20, full tour listing can be found below.

After their final European tour in support of their 2015 album, On Blonde, Yukon Blonde were not ready to come home - so they didn't. Frontman Jeff Innes relocated to Madrid, Spain where he was joined sporadically by his bandmates to write new material. Over beers at Restaraunte Padron, in the gardens of the El Retiro, and from a one room apartment on San Bernardino, Malasana, “Crazy” and “Emotional Blackmail” were born.

These two new songs were produced by Yukon Blonde and Steve Bays (Hot Hot Heat), and will be available everywhere digitally on July 28 via Dine Alone Records. Fans can also purchase the two tracks on a clear 10” vinyl tomorrow on the Dine Alone Record Store.

"The idea for the song came about just before a show in Munich at the end of the tour,” says Jeff Innes. “I was just outside of the club and I could hear the rest of the band sound checking one of our songs. I had the chords mixed up in my mind so it sounded like a completely different tune. As I was humming this melody outside, I was simultaneously trying to think of what to say to defend my slightly erratic behaviour to a girl I had met in Spain. And so as I was writing to her, I ended up writing the lyrics to the song.”

The Vancouver-based bands' JUNO Award nominated album Tiger Talk (2012) spawned the Alternative hit "Stairway" and cemented their place in the Alternative Rock landscape. On Blonde (2015) featured the Alternative hits "Saturday Night" (peaked #11) and “I Wanna Be Your Man” (peaked #12) and garnered rave reviews from Spin Magazine, PASTE, Buzzfeed, BBC, and more.

SOMETHING’S CHANGING OUT NOW ON ARTS & CRAFTS

NORTH AMERICAN DATES WITH PAUL WELLER BEGIN OCTOBER 1

“…she is at her best at her most intimate, albeit with a new gust of openness
from her far-flung adventures.” ★★★★ - Q Magazine

“Something’s Changing is a culmination of much-welcomed growth for Rose. She has the ability to make listeners feel: when she’s struggling to find comfort in her own skin, finding joy in life and questioning her path. Her most recent body of work shows Rose finding her sense of self, but makes it relatable to listeners. It’s that connection that solidifies
Rose’s career on the folk world.” - Paste Magazine

“With songcraft and performances on point here, Something's Changing is Rose’s most exquisite album to date and her most moving.” - All Music Guide

Lucy Rose unveils the video for her new single “Second Chance” from her third album Something’s Changing, out now on Arts & Crafts. The video stars British Olympic Gold Medal winning cyclist Elinor Barker and is directed by Joe Conner (Coldplay, Elbow, The Maccabees).

Rose explains “‘Second Chance’ was inspired by a conversation I had with my husband’s great aunt on New Year’s Eve. She was looking at an old photo of herself and said ‘Look how lovely I was! It's funny that I could only think that now of myself as an old lady. Looking back, but at the time, I would never have thought that’.”

She further explains “It really struck a chord with me as I can definitely relate to that. So, I decided from that point onwards that I wanted to use her hindsight and learn from it and see myself differently. Love myself for who I am and not wish to be anything different.”

Rose will tour North America this fall with Paul Weller performing special solo acoustic or trio sets. She’ll be postponing her headlining tour until early 2018. Full tour dates can be found below.

Something’s Changing is accompanied by a “fly-on-the-wall” short film documenting her first tour of Latin America last year, a trip that was independently organized by Rose with the help of her fans. The tour was the inspiration for the record and the film serves as an intimate account of this process.

Rose embarked on the making of Something’s Changing following her tour for her second, critically acclaimed album Work It Out. Over time, she noticed a steady stream of tweets reaching her from Latin America, and the unlikely statistic that geographically her music was most popular on Spotify in Mexico City. It gave birth to the seed of an idea that became a real labor of love over the next six months. Lucy offered her fans in Latin America a deal: “If you book me a gig, I’ll come and stay.”

For two months Lucy, with her guitar, a camera and her backpack, toured Ecuador, Peru, Chile, Argentina, Paraguay, Uruguay, Brazil and Mexico, playing free shows, staying with fans and “falling back in love with making music.” The documentary of her experience there was inspired by “the kindness and faith in music of those she met including fans blocking the street outside a gig above a launderette, trying to sleep on endless inter-city bus rides and living with families in out-of-the-way towns.” Rose’s husband Will Morris filmed as much as the experience as possible along the way.

NEW RECORD WHITEOUT CONDITIONS OUT NOW VIA DINE ALONE

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR WITH BORN RUFFIANS CONTINUES THROUGH FALL ACROSS CANADA

“Whiteout Conditions packs the most blanket pep of the power-pop group’s seven albums, dense with that particular new wave brand of electronic two-for-one” - Pitchfork

“...deceptively sophisticated arrangements” - National Post

“They're firing on all cylinders on Whiteout Conditions, working as one to deliver their most cohesive — and one of their best — albums to date” - Exclaim!

“...seemingly effortless ability to deliver pop hooks” - NOW

Critically acclaimed supergroup The New Pornographers debut a new video for the track “Whiteout Conditions”, shot in the West Edmonton Mall,  from their critically acclaimed album of the same name.

Of the video, director Kevan Funk explains, “Being from Alberta, the West Edmonton Mall has alway held a fascinating place in my imagination. It felt like a rich thematic backdrop being that it is this interesting monolithic figure in the city, this strange bubble that is meant to function as some sort of escape from daily reality, yet also existing as a defining space of suburban life in Edmonton. It was something that returned to mind when considering ideas for Whiteout Conditions. I wanted to tell a set of stories featuring characters who could act as conduits to explore that tension, each of them repressing some sort of tormenting emotion (guilt, shame, self-loathing) that they haven't been able to reconcile internally. The facade of the mall, with it's surreal fantasy elements, provided an effective metaphorical backdrop.”

Earlier this summer the band performed the song on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert.
Whiteout Conditions, out now on Dine Alone Records, continues to receive critical praise.

Whiteout Conditions made its Billboard debut at #11 on the Canadian Alternative Rock chart, #12 on Modern Rock, and #27 on the Rock chart. Additionally, the album hit #6 on Billboard’s AAA Radio Chart. The band’s world tour in support of the new album continues this summer and fall, including shows with Born Ruffians in select cities.

Of writing the new record, founder and frontman A.C. Newman notes that, “At the beginning of this record, there was some thinking that we wanted it to be like a Krautrock Fifth Dimension. Of course, our mutated idea of what Krautrock is probably doesn’t sound like Krautrock at all. But we were thinking: Let’s try and rock in a different way.” Newman recently discussed the new record and the band’s 18-year career in a series of Salon Talks here, here and here.

Since their debut in 2000, The New Pornographers have released six studio albums including their most recent, Brill Bruisers, hailed as an “exuberant, synthpop-infused set” by Rolling Stone, “infectious” by Harper’s Bazaar and “the grand and purposeful hookfest that you would hope these guys would come back with” by Stereogum. Pitchfork went on to note that “with the futurist sound of Brill Bruisers, the whole band embraces a more electric version of itself—bulked-up in chrome-plated armor, firing on all cylinders, and ready to steamroll anything in its path.” The band celebrated the release with a special NPR Music First Listen Live concert at the legendary Brill Building, and performed songs from the album on both Conan and the Late Show with David Letterman.
