“A glorious pile-up of emotional wreckage.” - Pitchfork

“PUP is a perfect ten.” - Noisey

“Effortlessly cool, charmingly nerdy, and wholly brilliant.” - NME

“It’s a tricky balance between aggression and pop, and they get it just right.”  - Stereogum

Fresh off their Video Of The Year JUNO Award nomination and Prism Prize nomination for “Dark Days”, and following the massive reaction to their new single “DVP” last week, Toronto punks PUP have released the Jeremy Schaulin-Rioux-directed lyric video for the song that Pitchfork called “a glorious pile-up of emotional wreckage.”

"The four of us grew up in the golden-age of spastic, seizure inducing video games (see: the 90’s),” says singer Stefan Babcock. “Our best bud Jeremy had the idea to smash together scenes from some of our favourite games in a hot pile of ADHD-insanity. Turns out that pairs really well with our music. Go figure."

And to keep the good times rolling, PUP is pleased to reveal a headlining show in their hometown set for May 26 at the Phoenix Concert Theatre. Pre-sale tickets are on sale now and might not last long with tickets for their show at Brooklyn’s Saint Vitus selling out in less than 24 hours, and their recently announced headlining show in London selling out in a weekend. Tickets for the Toronto show can be purchased here: http://ticketf.ly/1SNqu3s

After spending nearly two months on a U.S. tour with Modern Baseball last fall, the two bands will meet again for a run of dates throughout the UK starting April 17. Full tour dates can be found below.

Since the 2014 release of PUP’s self-titled debut, this ferocious four-piece has truly taken the world by storm and will undoubtedly continue to with the release of their highly-anticipated new album, coming later this spring. They were listed amongst Rolling Stone’s Breakout Rock Acts of 2014, named one of Kerrang’s 20 Hottest Bands In The World Right Now and garnered nominations for three Juno Awards, and the Prism Prize. They’ve toured the world twice over, playing over 300 shows in the last two years.

All the while, fans have continued to turn up left and right —Noisey declared their debut album “a perfect ten,” BrooklynVegan calls them “catchy, anthemic and raw as hell,” Consequence Of Sound boasted that “PUP make punk rock effortless” and even The New York Times included PUP as one of their picks for Best Albums of 2014.

Following a landmark ninth annual Basement Revue residency at Toronto’s Dakota Tavern throughout December, Jason Collett is ready to take his new album Song And Dance Man on the road. Gathering up the members of Canada’s premiere modern classic rock group  Zeus as his backup band, Jason Collett will play a very special hometown show on March 9 at The Mod Club before hitting the highway with opener Kalle Mattson starting April 19 in Regina and making stops along the way in Vancouver, Victoria, Calgary, Edmonton, Saskatoon, Winnipeg, Kingston, Wakefield, Waterloo and more.  All tour dates can be found HERE and are also listed below.

To celebrate the upcoming tour and today’s release date of his long awaited sixth album, the Toronto songwriter has shared the video for “Love You Babe” courtesy of Paste Magazine. Edited by Arts & Crafts label mate Hayden Desser, the golden era animated clip takes a (mostly) light hearted look at romance while capturing the true topography of love.

Produced by Bahamas’ Afie Jurvanen, Song And Dance Man’s thirteen songs bear the wit and melody of classic Jason Collett: contemplative reflections on getting older, backed with an affinity for freewheeling disco music. The album’s conspiring themes of love & loneliness, sun & shadows, are buoyed by its soaring sound. Each song rises into an easy, spacious groove, lead by Jason’s languid melodies and Afie’s sun-drunk bass.

The result is a dynamic addition to a strong body of work. Recorded in spring 2015 with long-time collaborators drummer/engineer Don Kerr (at his Rooster Studio), Christine Bougie on guitar & lap steel, Zeus’ Neil Quin on backing vocals, and Afie holding it down on the bass, Song And Dance Man may be Jason Collett’s finest effort yet. The storied songwriter is back in the spotlight, more comfortable than ever in the guise of entertainer.

WINNIPEG BLUES / ROOTS TRIO THE CROOKED BROTHERS BEGIN ‘A DIFFERENT KIND OF WINTER’ CANADIAN TOUR ON FEB 24

WATCH THE LIVE VIDEO FOR “NORTH OF THE BORDER” FROM THE CANADIAN FOLK MUSIC AWARD NOMINATED ALBUM, THANK YOU I’M SORRY

The Crooked Brothers spent much of last fall on the road in Europe supporting their latest album, Thank You I’m Sorry, which was nominated for a Canadian Folk Music Award for New/Emerging Artist Of The Year. Now the brothers are packing up their dobros, banjos, and mandolins in preparation for another run clear across Canada. ‘A Different Kind Of Winter Tour’ begins February 24 making its way through a variety of intimate venues from the West Coast to Quebec before returning home to Winnipeg.

For the last few years the band have been joined by a full rhythm section while on tour, this time around they’re back to a three piece, or as brother Matt Foster puts it, ‘the original recipe.’ "The arrangements are simple, but the songs certainly aren't,” says Foster. “I love all the different incarnations a song can take on if you just trust it and follow it where it wants to go. Songs are like people, there is a lot more than just one side to them. We've always had this dual identity as a band and it's very exciting to have traveled the world as a big 5 piece only to come home, shake everything up, do the laundry if you will, and set out again as a different kind of band."

To get a glimpse of the cozy set up the band are bringing along, viewers can watch brothers Darwin Baker and Jesse Matas perform “North Of The Border”, live on the banks of Assiniboine River. Inspired by a lifelong student and teacher of voluntary simplicity Matas met in his 20s, “the song is about the beginning and ending of journeys; the many beginnings and endings we see throughout our lifetimes; the many places we discover and leave and; our many relationships that begin and end,” he says. “It is the story of a man who is compelled, and sometimes forced, to keep moving throughout his life, taking us from his childhood in the lakes of Minnesota, to university at Kent State, to draft-dodging a war and roughing it in the bush north of Lake Superior, to attempts to settle in Toronto and, to Winnipeg, where he finds a job and legally immigrated to Canada. I wrote the song in my tent, in the piney, precambrian-shield lakes, where the story begins and we recorded the video beside the Assiniboine River in Winnipeg, where the story ends.”

The Crooked Brothers would like to thank the Canada Council for the Arts for helping to develop and tour a concert based on the idea of returning to their original configuration as a trio. Full tour dates can be found below.
