Today TUNS is sharing it’s highly anticipated self-titled debut album in its entirety courtesy of Exclaim!. Out August 26, via Royal Mountain Music TUNS contains first single “Mind Over Matter, ” a song Stereogum called “a lovelorn boot-stomper” and which hit #1 on both CBC Radio 2 and CBC Radio 3. Recently the ‘supergroup’ comprised of Chris Murphy (Sloan) Matt Murphy (Super Friendz, Flashing Lights), and Mike O’Neill (Inbreds), also released its second single “Throw It All Away” which Brooklyn Vegan simply called “very very catchy.” Indeed.

TUNS is an exciting new band of equals, of collaborators, of experienced veterans who sound as exuberant as ever. Their debut self-titled album is full of power pop with intricate melodies and electrifying rock’n’roll written with a deep appreciation for songcraft. It’s like a music geek’s version of fantasy baseball, a band that could feature Paul McCartney, Pete Townshend, and the Attractions’ Pete Thomas, with Alex Chilton and The Jam’s Paul Weller throwing in song ideas.

PRE-ORDER TUNS HERE VIA iTUNES

The first time anyone knew that TUNS existed was their first gig at Massey Hall in October 2015, part of an all-star benefit show organized by Hayden. The band’s internal mutual appreciation dates back 20 years to when the Inbreds and Super Friendz—with whom Chris was playing drums during a Sloan hiatus— toured together, a friendship only now coming to musical fruition.

Today TUNS has announced national tour dates that will run from Halifax and St. John’s all the way to Vancouver and will include stops in Kingston, Montreal, Ottawa, Toronto and more. More dates on the tour will be announced soon and all scheduled performances are listed below.

HARPACASH & THE MORALS REVEAL NEW SONG FROM UPCOMING ALBUM

BARRIE, ONTARIO THREE PIECE TO RELEASE LAMPS VIA LATENT RECORDINGS ON SEPTEMBER 23

LISTEN TO AND SHARE “SLEEPING IN A HAMMOCK” HERE

LIVE DATES INCLUDE STOPS THROUGHOUT ONTARIO

“There’s a serenity to the music of HarpAcash & the Morals, an indie folk-rock trio hailing from Barrie...perhaps it’s time to take a closer look north of the 401” - The Globe & Mail

With the release of the Barrie-based HarpAcash & the Morals’ first song from its upcoming album, “Douglas Snow”, the critics are beginning “to take a closer look north of the 401.” The Globe & Mail recently claimed the trio “make a welcoming, minimalist sort of music, comparable perhaps to the soulful-rootsy approach of a young Serena Ryder.”

In a few short weeks HarpAcash & the Morals will release their highly anticipated debut LP, Lamps, via Latent Records. Today, listeners are treated to another glimpse of what’s to come with the track “Sleeping In A Hammock”, a song about “getting through life even when it seems ridiculous,” says HarpACash. “It's about making lemonade out of lemons, accepting cause and effect and knowing that life doesn't come with instructions, so you're gonna go through some shit!”

Due out on September 23, Lamps was recorded with Michael Timmins (Cowboy Junkies) at helm in studio, lead vocalist HarpAcash, guitarist Todd Jeffrey, and drummer Daniel Trickett gathered to record the heartbreaking harmonies, graceful guitars, and the idiosyncratic minimalist percussion that forms the album.

It was after supporting the Cowboy Junkies on a string of dates that Michael Timmins was impressed by the trio. “Their music pulled me from backstage and compelled me to listen,” says Timmins. “HarpAcash's vocals alone are a force of nature, but joined with Todd Jeffery's angular song structures and Dan Trickett's powerful, multi-dimensional drumming, their music becomes wholly original."

HarpAcash & the Morals recorded its first EP, Music Tree Life Understanding, in 2012 with producer Steve Singh (Ron Hawkins, Brendan Canning). They followed it up by sharing the stage with The Strumbellas, Elliott Brood, and the Cowboy Junkies, and secured a residency at Toronto’s Cameron House.

Recently HarpAcash & the Morals also released a series of videos, live in studio, recording covers for the Latent Uncovers project. Premiering today is the trio’s take on Jon Belion’s “All Time Low” joining its versions of Drake’s “One Dance”, Cowboy Junkies “Blue Moon (Revisited)”, and Justin Biebers’ “Love Yourself”.

Out today via Cadence Music, Pack A.D.’s new record, Positive Thinking, is all carefully constructed chaos, crushing vulnerability, and massive swagger. To celebrate the release the Vancouver duo are sharing the Matt Leaf-directed and Red Castle Films-produced video for the album’s new single “Yes, I Know” courtesy of Playboy who call the new album “their most electrifying work yet.” I wanted to make a video that was simple in concept: we play things and do stuff in different spots in front of one stationary camera,” says Maya Miller. “It was an easy sell on the surface. The real work came after in the edit. There are over 900 edits in 3 minutes and it's worth every jump cut.”

Underneath the sprawl of its sonic infrastructure of Positive Thinking singer/guitarist Becky Black and drummer Maya Miller — self described lifelong high school outcasts — traverse the hidden tunnels that connect all us damaged people together: anger, alienation, humour, sarcasm, sincerity, loneliness, grief.

“Positive Thinking explores the numbing day-to-day routine of depression and the fantastical ways that we look to mask it from ourselves and others,” Miller says. “The lyrics on this album are probably more personal to us than on any other record we've done.”

GET POSITIVE THINKING HERE

Engineered by Jesse Gander (White Lung, Bison, Japandroids) and mastered by Heba Kadry in Brooklyn’s Timeless Mastering,Positive Thinking isn’t a total overhaul of the Pack A.D. everybody knows and loves. But making this album—it was a reinvention, an old-school reckoning, and they’re better for it. We’re all better for it. “We’ve gone back and found the place where we started from,” Miller says. “This may have been one of the most difficult albums for us personally to work on but because of that, it's also been the most comfortable. There isn't a single moment where I feel like we've done any of it for anyone but ourselves.”

On the heels of a successful spring tour, the East Vancouver duo is now adding more tour dates this fall including stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Ottawa beginning October 20. Full tour dates can be found below and more Canadian dates will be announced soon.
