River Tiber, the Toronto vocalist, producer, and multi-instrumentalist also known as Tommy Paxton-Beesley, has shared a new single “Taurus”. Arguably his most serene work yet, the song’s gentle acoustic strumming stretches out across a latticework of electronic textures as Paxton-Beesley’s hushed vocals ruminate on unconditional love. The song arrives on the heels of last year’s subdued but tension-laden single “Deep End”, both acting as mile markers on the road toward his sophomore full length, anticipated later this year.

YOKE LORE SHARES NEW SINGLE, “SAFE AND SOUND”

MEDitaTIONS, ACOUSTIC EP OUT JUNE 14 VIA ARTS & CRAFTS

image1.jpg

Today, Yoke Lore releases his rousing new single “Safe and Sound”. A stirring observation on the changing roles relationships plays in this era. Speaking about the track, Adrian Galvin explains, “I think there are different times throughout history where relationships have meant different things. In the Stone Age, they meant survival. In the Victorian era, they meant politics. And I think part of what they mean in our era is refuge. A bright spot of intimacy in an otherwise intricate web of depersonalization and the mass casual insincerity among daily interactions. Olly Olly Oxen Free.”

New York indie pop project Yoke Lore is the solo musical venture of Adrian Galvin, previously of Yellerkin and Walk the Moon. Following on from recent single “Chin Up”, “Safe and Sound” is the second single to be released from his forthcoming Meditations EP set for release on June 14 via Arts & Crafts. “Chin Up” was accompanied by a video shot in the depths of winter in Alaska, sparse and bleak in comparison to the track’s joyous nature.

Three years of non-stop touring (supporting acts like Bastille, LP, Frenship, Overcoats, The Pains of Being Pure at Heart, and Aquilo) and playing festivals worldwide (SXSW, The Great Escape, Field Trip, Billboard Hot 100) led to Yoke Lore’s first US headline tours, selling out shows all over the country. In 2019, Yoke Lore will make appearances at BottleRock Napa Valley, Firefly Festival (Dover) and Bushstock (London), following an east coast headline run. He recently announced his debut UK headline shows taking place in London, Manchester and Leeds in June 2019.

After putting out three acclaimed EPs which gained him a loyal following— Far Shore (2016), Goodpain (2017), and Absolutes (2018) — 2019’s Meditations EP strips several of Galvin’s familiar songs to their core by trading the usual electronic elements for arrangements of piano, horns, and strings. In addition to these re-interpretations, listeners will also find two new studio songs on the new Meditations EP.

Yoke Lore layers the harmonies of Panda Bear, the soulful beats of M83, and the modern pop of Blackbird Blackbird to tell “the stories of how we are bound.” Galvin’s songs start with the folksy timbre of a banjo and add echoing waves of vocals and percussion to create unforgettable pop music with tactile sincerity and conviction. Since 2016, he has released 3 EP’s and a handful of singles, including a cover of Savage Garden’s “Truly Madly Deeply” that Taylor Swift added to her “Songs Taylor Loves” playlist.
