Today, Saskatoon’s Close Talker, are sharing their new LP How Do We Stay Here? with the masses, and NPR have picked it as their feature album on New Music Friday. The album “is about trying to wrestle with time,” the band says. “It's about trying to learn from experiences, trying to keep perspective, trying to progress in this weird world, and sometimes trying not to progress at all; to sit in a moment and soak it in for all it has to offer before it becomes nothing more than a memory. This album is us navigating through the past two years, through both the good times and the bad, and holding on to those times for as long as we're able."

Close Talker has always strived to push their craft toward new uncharted territories. Recently the band embarked on a 3D-360 Silent Headphone Concert, pairing their live show with a mix that immersed the audience in instruments and voices orbiting and swirling around them on all axis, increasing the impact and depth of the band’s already acclaimed live show. Now the band ready to head back out on the road for a series of traditional concerts across Canada and the US. Full tour dates can be found below with tickets on sale September 4.

In so many ways How Do We Stay Here? marks a new chapter for the band. The three members leaned into the trust and foundation built over countless years of friendship to pursue a record that would be sustainable and timeless for them. Choosing to self-produce allowed the band to hold this album close to their chest while it developed organically over the course of 2018 at RMS Labs in Regina, SK. It is an album the band wrote for themselves, in hopes that the songs would carry the same meaning in 10 years, as they do today.

Close Talker have toured throughout North America and Europe, and has gained the attention and praise of notable publications such as NPR, Billboard, Clash, Spin, Q Magazine, COS etc. Having recently won Alternative Artist of The Year at the Saskatchewan Music Awards, the band is poised for a breakthrough 2019. Beyond Close Talker’s recordings and videos, the music comes alive with the band’s iconic live show, leaving audiences around the world satisfied, having left all inhibitions behind.

Close Talker are Will Quiring (vocals/guitar), Matthew Kopperud (Guitar/Keyboard), and Christopher Morien (drums).

MORE PRAISE FOR CLOSE TALKER

"Close Talker, has a way of burrowing deep under the skin.... the band recently unveiled another moody, sweetly impeccable gem in "Half Past Nine." Those bold, chiming guitars are back, this time in aid of a warmhearted rumination on moments we celebrate, romanticize and fight to preserve in our memories" - NPR

"The Change It Brings" is a softly ruminating track that tackles the most fickle theme of them all- time. Rolling over sinuous guitar layers and smatterings of melodic synths, lead singer Will's breathy vocals welcome you in like a hot cup of tea on a winter's day. The track then promptly sits you down and leaves you to reflect on your own memories while it soothingly plays the soundtrack to your mind. - Earmilk

“A song like "Half Past Nine" shows why the band has found success, it's full of heart and nostalgic longing for moments that have passed but have made a lasting effect for the better.” - The Wild Honey Pie

“’Pace’ is dripping with yearning and nervous anxiety set to a tight indie beat.” - Parade Mag

HIGHLY-ANTICIPATED SOPHOMORE LP FROM JUNO AWARD WINNERS, ‘87, DUE OUT SEPTEMBER 27 ON BIRTHDAY CAKE / THE ORCHARD

The Bros. Landreth (aka Joey & Dave Landreth) have revealed new single, “Good Love”. The Winnipeg duo will release their sophomore album ’87 on September 27 via Birthday Cake/The Orchard and in a few short weeks, they’ll support the LP with a run of tour dates throughout North America and Europe. Full tour dates can be found below.

Discussing “Good Love” the Brothers stated, “When we wrote this song we were doing our best to channel a John Hiatt vibe. We started from there and a story began to unfold. Initially it was written as a fairly classic love-gone-wrong… two people coming to the realization that they both want the same thing, but that they won’t find it together. It’s bitter-sweet, just the resignation that they did their best and now it’s time to chase some good love with someone else. However, once it was done and we had a bit of a distance from it, we started to hear it as a hopeful song instead. Rather than two people turning away from each other it started to sound like maybe it’s a call to arms within a relationship… ‘Hey, let’s put our heads together and work this thing out. Don’t you think it’s worth it? Don’t you want some good love?’”

The Bros. Landreth released their debut album, Let It Lie, via the Nashville-based Slate Creek Records in 2015. The album received widespread acclaim, won multiple awards including a JUNO Award, propelling the band to play over 400 tour dates around the world. A Rolling Stone review praised the band’s, “quiet storm of slide guitar solos, blue notes, three part harmonies,” while musical hero, Bonnie Raitt, was equally impressed after catching the band’s set, saying, "I haven't liked a band as much as The Bros. Landreth in a long time. To hear this kind of funky, southern style rock played with such originality and soul will knock you out."

Then, the band went on a hiatus. The break afforded Joey the opportunity to release his debut solo album, Whiskey, in 2017, touring extensively and furthering his reputation for being a first-rate guitar slinger, songwriter, and performer in his own right. Joey’s booming solo career might have delayed the timeline for the brothers, yet they never stopped writing songs that would eventually be recorded for their long awaited, follow-up release.

Teaming up in the studio with drummer Ryan Voth, guitarist Ariel Posen, and longtime producer Murray Pulver, the soon to be released album, ’87, is an exciting evolution of the band’s sound, honed by thousands of hours on stage and filtered through the lens of the last many years on the road. The Bros. Landreth’s journey took some unexpected turns, but ultimately reaffirmed two brother’s earnest desire to make honest music together. ’87 is a nod to the real beginning of the band; the year they became brothers.

Bombay Bicycle Club are very pleased to share a new single, their first new music since 2014’s number one selling, Mercury Music Prize nominated fourth album, So Long, See You Tomorrow.

The pulsating, euphoric “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)” is streaming now. It encapsulates all the ingredients that made this exciting British band so popular before heading on an extended hiatus having sold out a triumphant London Earls Court show back in 2014. Recorded at London’s KONK Studio with producer John Congleton, it’s a song heavy of both melody and rhythm, and acts as a tantalising re-introduction to Bombay Bicycle Club whilst they work on a new full-length record. Further details of that will be announced soon.

It’s been an exciting and very encouraging return for the band so far: their January video teaser announcing they were working on new music sparked an online frenzy that found their name trending on social media. That was followed by the news that the band would make their live return with a headline set at Wilderness Festival, and a New York show for September which sold so rapidly that they built a full US tour around it. Then earlier this summer, Bombay Bicycle Club commemorated the 10th anniversary of their frenetic debut album, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose by announcing a handful of shows, all of which sold out in seconds, including a night at London’s Brixton Academy on the 8th November.

A very welcome return then, for a band who have not lost their innate ear for melody nor their ability to make interesting, inventive guitar-led pop music sound so effortless and exciting.
