Today, Montreal based Alt/Indie-Folk collective The Franklin Electric are sharing another new video from their upcoming EP, In Your Heart, out February 21 courtesy of Aesthetic Magazine. “Trouble” is about my relationship with my inner struggles,” says Jon Matte. “Learning from them and finding a way to understand why and where they come from. As if they are happening for a reason I should understand. We shot the video on a day off our European tour in London UK and went with a doom and gloom kind of Brit crime drama story with forgiveness and remorse.”

“Trouble” follows the EPs first single “Anything For Love” which was released earlier this month.

The JUNO Award nominated group recently finished a headline European tour and return to Canada for a run of dates starting on November 23 in Waterloo, Quebec at Maison de la Culture, which sees the band throughout Quebec and Ontario until December 13. A full list of dates is below.

Since emerging in 2014 with their debut album This Is How I Let You Down, The Franklin Electric have logged nearly 400 shows, canvassing the world alongside everyone from Mumford & Sons and Ben Howard to Edward Sharpe and City and Colour. Along the way, 2017’s Blue Ceilings marked a major milestone. Not only did the record produce favorites such as “I Know The Feeling” and “Someone Just Like You”, but it also led to a nomination at the 2018 JUNO Award awards in the category of Breakthrough Group of the Year.

Stay tuned for more updates The Franklin Electric in the coming weeks.

Episode 53 of Laurie Brown’s Pondercast was inspired by an idea from Joshua Van Tassel. He was thinking about breath and breathing when he wrote these pieces of music for the episode. Laurie picked up on that theme and Breathing Lessons is the result. So take a deep breath, and let’s time travel; from your first breath to your last.

Lead Swimmer Tony Dekker will also be performing at the Pondercast “The Longest Night” event at The Burdock in Toronto on Dec. 21, alongside Charlotte Cornfield, Elizabeth Shepherd, Michelle Willis, and more. Details and tickets available here.

Released late last year, The Waves, The Wake was recorded in the 145-year-old Bishop Cronyn Memorial Church and produced by Chris Stringer (Union Sound). On the LP, Dekker decided to challenge himself by writing new music without any acoustic guitar, which has always been his instrumental mainstay. Each song on the album is brought to life in its own distinctive way, using an acoustic palette that includes woodwinds, harp, congas, marimba and pipe organ.
