Toronto based soul/R&B singer and producer Charlotte Day Wilson has released her long awaited debut album ALPHA, out now via her own imprint, Stone Woman Music. ALPHA is an eleven-song project of metaphor and earnest declarations, recollecting Charlotte’s inner struggles of love, growing, and breaking that she’s finally speaking to in a greater way. Self produced, the album shines a light on her prodigious skills of which are deeply admired by her peers including Toronto’s jazz-funk trio BADBADNOTGOOD, Mustafa, Syd, and Daniel Caesar who all appear on ALPHA. Charlotte’s new single “I Can Only Whisper” feat. BADBADNOTGOOD premiered yesterday on Apple Music’s #1 show, The Zane Lowe Show. The album also features her hailed single “Mountains” which has garnered over 20 million streams since its release at the end of 2019. 

This year Charlotte was nominated for the JUNO Award for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year for her single "Take Care of You" feat. Syd and was named Billboard’s R&B/Hip-Hop Rookie of the month for the month of June. Earlier this week Charlotte appeared on CBC q and spoke to Tom Power about the upcoming album and more

ALPHA also features singles “Keep Moving” and “If I Could” that were released last month to announce the album. “Keep Moving” and “If I Could” each arrived with entrancing videos co-directed by Charlotte and award-winning director Kevan Funk

Charlotte has continued to make wonders with the ALPHA era showcasing her impressive instrumental repertoire of guitar, bass, drum pad, and piano talent. Charlotte broke into the industry with her 2016 highly praised single “Work” on her debut EP CDW, which garnered more than 100M streams worldwide. Following her EP, Charlotte appeared on Daniel Caesar’s Freudian with their song “Transform” and BADBADNOTGOOD’s “In Your Eyes”, as well as released her personal single, “Doubt”. In 2018, Charlotte released “Stone Woman” and “Nothing New” and recorded for Spotify Singles at HOB Studios in Toronto, where she performed “Doubt” and covered Dolly Parton’s “Here You Come Again”. Next in 2019, Charlotte released “Mountains”, co-written by Babyface with backing vocals from Daniel Caesar, and appeared on KAYTRANADA’S Grammy Award winning album Bubba with “What You Need”. Charlotte released her self-produced songs “Take Care of You” ft. Syd and “Summertime” in 2020 and made her late-night debut on The Late Show with Stephen Colbert’s #PlayAtHome series playing “Take Care of You” from her Toronto home. Having garnered 1.6+M Monthly Spotify Listeners and over 100+M streams worldwide, and receiving praise from Document Journal, COOL HUNTING, ELLE Canada, HYPEBEAST, PITCHFORK, THE FADER, HARPER’S BAZAAR, NPR, VICE, and more, she has made a name for herself.
