TOUR DATES SUPPORTING CHARLOTTE CARDIN BEGIN IN NOVEMBER

“... casts back to timeless memories of fumbling early romance—first kisses, messy breakups, and short-lived flirtations are all soundtracked by weightless indie pop and R&B stylings”
 – Under The Radar

“It’s a striking debut, an unguarded, ultra-personal tapestry—stories of heartbreak and struggle, sung in her soothing, signature voice”
– SPIN

“‘Things’ is an unadulterated look at youthful insecurities and unrequited affection. Over a somber but punchy backdrop, she delivers an evocative performance that is ripe with honesty” – EARMILK

The 22-year-old singer-songwriter, Charlie Houston is today sharing her second EP, Bad Posture – out via Arts & Crafts – which follows on from her Spotify USA Viral 50 track, "Wide Awake", which she recorded with the Grammy Award-nominated electronic duo, ODESZA. Charlie has just wrapped up a mammoth sold-out stadium tour with ODESZA and is concluding her cross-Canada support tour with JUNO Award 2022 Artist Of The Year, Charlotte Cardin in November, she will also perform a headline set at Toronto's Drake Underground on October 27.

Speaking about the focus track on the EP, "Falling Out", Charlie says, "Falling out of love isn’t really something you have control over. Sometimes feelings just naturally fade away and there’s no clear reason why. In my experience, these situations can be even harder because you can catch yourself wishing to still feel that way."

When discussing the wider EP release, she continues to say:  “All these songs focus on different emotions that have a direct effect on my posture,” says Houston. “When I’m sad, anxious, nervous, or confused my posture gets worse, and I clench my jaw. I hold so much of my emotion in my neck and jaw. The writing of all these songs caused some serious strain on my neck. Not just from looking down at the paper but the way the feelings that inspired the songs manifest physically in my body."

"Lately", "Dinosaurs in the Garden", and "Falling Out", are all about “the feelings surrounding the end of a relationship,” explains Houston. “Not a bad ending in the way that someone did something wrong, but just a natural ending or loss of feelings. In my experience this sort of dissolution is almost worse because there is no event or action to blame. Feelings just naturally faded away and that’s a sad thing.”

Houston, whose “contemporary R&B-inflected pop straightforwardly addresses the meaningful mundanities of Gen Z life” (Bandcamp) is following her 2021 debut five-song EP, I Hate Spring which received praise from Zane Lowe, Rolling Stone, and SPIN, while landing a Spotify Times Square Billboard.
