Rising indie-pop duo chemical club return with new single "Brave In My Arms". With catchy bass lines and jangly guitar riffs, the mid-tempo groovy song is a motivational message about finding fulfillment within yourself in the months after the end of a long-term relationship: ‘So I’m brave in my arms / Braver than I’ve been in any other arms / Before today’.

On the single, chemical club says “‘Brave in My Arms’ is a song about finding fulfillment within yourself in the months after the end of a long term relationship. The demo was recorded at an AirBnb in Los Angeles in the spring of last year while we were on tour with fanclubwallet. Other members of the band took a day trip to the Malibu coastline while Eric opted to stay in and write. Months later, we finished the song together at our home in Ottawa.”

Chemical Club return with a new single following the release of their recent Pale Blue EP. The triumphant alt rock track washes over the listener with crunchy basslines and catchy guitar riffs. “Bounds” is a song about “falling in love with where you are from," explains the band. "Growing up, we didn’t appreciate our hometown — but the more we travelled, the more we realized how special it was. Those late nights spent with best friends in the city you’re from can’t be replaced."

Chemical Club is the project of Eric Graham (he/him) and Michael Watson (they/them). The duo performs tight, catchy indie rock songs, perfect for road trips or coming of age soundtracks that deftly weave naturalistic lyrics with reflections on love, death, insecurity, and growth. Having grown up around the corner from each other, the pair didn’t truly connect until their teen years when they began playing together in garage bands. In 2019, they formed Chemical Club and have since released a series of homespun, self-released singles and EPs that’ve earned them a passionate following over the course of the pandemic. In addition to Chemical Club, both members perform in ascendant indie rock project fanclubwallet, with Watson serving as fanclubwallet's co-writer and producer.

Today, Ottawa duo Chemical Club are celebrating the release of their new EP Pale Blue, out today via Arts & Crafts, by sharing the title track. "Pale Blue" is a definitive Chemical Club song: Fun, upbeat hook-laden indie rock that lets the listener know, despite the pressures of the world, you can still have a good time.

The new wave-indebted track encourages beauty in a moment, even when the world feels like it’s falling apart: 'When the parts that make it worth it / Start losing to the times we’re in'. About the song, the band shares, "Overcoming existential dread and anxiety by trying to appreciate what you have and what’s around you without being drawn in by a sea of negativity. The feeling of sitting out lakeside on a sunny day with your friends but not being able to enjoy the moment, instead being sucked into a thought loop of life’s uncontrollable aspects. After a whole day of conquering this feeling, the cloud of negativity and anxiety can be lifted, and all that’s left is a sense of presence and satisfaction with your surroundings and company."
