"Some songs don’t belong on albums; they drift at the edges, strange and beautiful in their own way." Those are the words of Geoffroy as he releases the new double-single from his Field Study concept - bringing together loose stories and ideas from life as an independent singer-songwriter. Geoffroy intends to serialize the Field Study concept, using it to chronicle life through song. It's a sort of musical notebook for moments that catch his attention and ultimately turn into songs.
The idea began with the single "Good Call" released late last year and is continued today with "Piece of Art", penned with Toronto artist Duncan Hood. "This one is a reflection of an old love, like finding a photograph of a former lover,” explains Geoffroy. “Both familiar and distant, a piece of art from another life."

Previous single "Good Call" was born during a studio session with Montreal producer Connor Seidel. It captures a conversation between two friends: one offering perspective and advice in the verses, the other reflecting in return in the choruses. "That day, we were also planning a small retreat in the woods. Psychedelics, music, and introspection were in the air," Geoffroy reflects. "So when the instrumental came together, that energy - the feeling of perspective shifting, of letting go and seeing things differently - naturally found its way into the song."

MORE ABOUT GEOFFROY
Geoffroy is an essential and emerging voice in Canadian music. Now three LPs into a career that has solidified him as one of Quebec’s best artists, the Montreal-born songwriter and producer recently released his fourth full-length, Good Boy.
Almost 10 years removed from his first release, this project was sparked with the intention of creating Geoffroy’s most authentic work to date, blending organic instrumentation and electronic elements into a bright and rich album filled with diverse sounds, a collection of songs that moves beyond the brooding depth that has defined recent works.
