“Sober Motel/Bad Biology” Official Live Videos Still

Today, Toronto’s Dilly Dally are sharing the new live video for “Sober Motel/Bad Biology” (Official Live Videos) courtesy of NOW Magazine from their acclaimed LP, Heaven, out now via Dine Alone. The ‘live video’ was filmed during a secret show in The Coffin Factory Studios, which is currently where guitarist / vocalist Katie Monks lives, however all of the residents, most of whom are artists, are to be evicted on April 1 so the building can be torn down to make way for condos.

“It's so important to cause a fuss when these places fall off,” says Monks. “Ultimately, The Coffin Factory is a place where artists are free to be themselves. Make noise, experiment, collaborate, and live with people you may not have otherwise met. A place to worship the creative process and live out your dreams. I was lucky enough to live there there for the last few months.

As Dilly Dally heads out on our biggest North American tour yet, it's important to acknowledge where we actually came from and how we got here. If we had each moved to the city ten years ago without having spaces like this, the band probably wouldn’t exist today. Support from our community has been crucial.

This 'Live Music Video' is an expression of that. We put on a free secret show with all local artists inside our unit and filmed the building before it gets demolished April 1st, to make room for condos. To me, it's a symptom of a culture that looks down at the artists themselves, despite wanting to consume what they create. That's why it's so important to hold its memory up so high.”

After supporting Heaven on tour throughout Europe and the UK late last year, Dilly Dally are now taking the LP on road in North America and after kicking off the tour in Montreal last night they will make visits to Vancouver, Edmonton, Calgary, Saskatoon, and Winnipeg. TOUR DATES BEGIN MARCH 18 WITH STOPS IN MONTREAL AND WESTERN CANADA

NEW LP, HEAVEN, OUT NOW VIA DINE ALONE

Toronto’s Dilly Dally have confirmed a North American headline tour for 2019 beginning March 18 behind their new record, Heaven, out now via Dine Alone. Full tour dates below with tickets on sale on November 16.

The band has also shared a new animated music video for Marijuana, directed by Andrew Knives. A subject matter particularly close to the band’s heart, and especially relevant following the recent legalization of cannabis in Canada, singer/guitarist Katie Monks says:

“We’ve been inhaling so much fear and hate from our televisions, our leaders, social media…I don’t know about you, but the anxiety and eventual depression became overbearing.

The only way I could keep functioning, and get through writing this record, was with some assistance from weed. Basically, if I didn’t write anything good by sun down - I would smoke sativa for good measure. It would clear my creative pathways, help me forget about the expectations of others, and almost hide away in my own protective energy field.

Legalization in Canada is one tiny step toward an uphill battle of reconciliation with all of our citizens – primarily people of color - who for decades have been arrested unfairly for dealing, possession, etc. There are still many laws prohibiting how we’re able to access, consume, and sell cannabis.

So while we still have a long way to go - I’m happy to contribute a song that may perhaps help shed off the stigma that weed is anything other than a sacred tool that many cultures cherish. It needs to be respected.”

TOUR DATES CONTINUE TODAY

Toronto’s Dilly Dally have shared a new track off their upcoming LP Heaven, out September 14 via Dine Alone. “Doom” is five-alarm vocal firestorm, written in the shadow of the band’s internal (almost) destruction, as they simultaneously bore witness to post-election America from the tour van.

Singer/guitarist Katie Monks says:

“The song is about preserving your spirit despite all odds. When your friends are out of reach, and you feel like you could fall forever into a deep depression, this song is asking you to catch yourself. It’s so hard to admit sometimes that we are all fragile. And it’s up to each of us as individuals, to take responsibility for our own happiness.

Even if glimpses of beauty seem few and far between. Hold on to those moments as though they were a part of your own body, and crucial to your existence. Because...they are.”

Ahead of release next week, Dilly Dally have been profiled by Noisey, Fader, and more. Album highlight “Sober Motel” earned spotlights from both the NY Times and Vulture, who said: "Katie Monks could sing the alphabet and it would be a blast to listen to. The very act of throwing on any Dilly Dally song — seriously, any of them — will make you wonder how Dilly Dally isn’t the biggest rock band going."

This Friday Dilly Dally will kick off a North American tour with FIDLAR, full dates below.
