Ahead of the band's upcoming dates in Canada with Daniel Romano, and their UK and European run in support of buzzing debut album Basic Behaviour, rising Toronto post-punks FRIGS today share the seething new track “Crop Circles”.

"Crop Circles” is a song about “feeling good about yourself,” says vocalist Bria Salmena. “I wrote the lyrics when I was moving away from someone who only put me down and didn't support my creative pursuits. The song lives solely in this recording. It was never intended to be performed."

All upcoming dates can be found below with tickets available now.

Out now on Arts & Crafts, Basic Behaviour, FRIGS’ debut, self-produced full-length, was written and recorded over a 16-month period, split between two locations: the band’s home studio and Union Sound Company in the east end of Toronto. As much as the lyrical subject matter within the record reflects personal experiences of frontwoman Bria Salmena, the album is a product of years of self discovery as a unit. Recording at home allowed the band to take the time to explore their sound, experimenting with sonic textures and production, and meticulously re-working their material. These sessions proved to be invaluable in creating a sound unique to FRIGS. However, a degree of positive urgency was deemed necessary in order to finalize the process.

Working with engineer Ian Gomes, FRIGS embraced the limitations of third-party studio time and completed the record with a sense of immediacy. The resulting contrast between these two approaches in recording creates an end product that is at once stark, chaotic, reflective, and manic, ultimately forming the core of Basic Behaviour’s identity.

FRIGS is made up of Bria, Duncan, Lucas, and Kris. The band pairs the raw, emotional grunge of PJ Harvey with the immersive, psychedelic post-punk of early Sonic Youth. With each member bringing a unique set of influences, FRIGS create a sound that is hard to pin down and an impression that’s unshakable. Led by the force of Bria’s vocals, the band has earned a reputation for putting on a hypnotic and visceral live performance. Embracing the mercurial and experimental, their shows are built upon instinct; a vocal growl can unexpectedly give way to a hushed whisper; languid drones boil over into guttural and searing tones.

Fresh off the release of their buzzing debut album Basic Behaviour via Arts & Crafts, rising Toronto post-punks FRIGS today share the fragmented and kaleidoscopic new video for standout track “Talking Pictures”. Of the video, the band says "’Talking Pictures’ relies not on narrative, but on evoking a sense of disillusionment. We wanted a video that similarly eschewed narrative in order to portray this feeling through distorted perspective, overlapping subjects and a black-and-white pallet."

"The camera seems to be broken in a glitchy, 360 degree virtual space filled with multiple exposures of FRIGS, occasionally, and inadvertently disrupted by glitchy abstract shapes, in this dark, and moody portraiture,” explains director Christopher Mills. “For me this song is like what Mazzy Star would play before a street fight,” he continues. “The toughness of this music evokes images of Ponyboy Curtis, with all his friends running around the perimeter of town, looking for trouble. FRIGS were a big part of the editing process on this collaboration and I was honoured by the invitation to work with this music."

Fresh off the release of their buzzing debut album Basic Behaviour out now via Arts & Crafts, rising Toronto post-punks FRIGS today share the new video for standout track “Solid State”.

"The video for ‘Solid State’ acts as a homage to inner dialogues that are common, spanning: gender, age and background,” explains frontwoman Bria Salmena. “While the video was intended to be a darker, more surreal exploration of these themes, the filming process ended up being a typical comforting visit with my grandmother. Exploring her aged house, and enjoying a meal with her. We were able to capture a candid and somber time. The real effect the video has is one of overwhelming nostalgia and self reflection."
