Today, Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leif Vollebekk shares a new version of his song “Southern Star,” featuring award-winning Norwegian artist AURORA. The track originates from Vollebekk’s forthcoming short film of the same name, starring both Leif & AURORA together as characters in the story. A music video for “Southern Star,” composed of scenes from the film, accompanies the song released today. The short film Southern Star will premiere at a later date, with additional details to be announced soon.

Conceived by Vollebekk and directed by longtime collaborator and award-winning filmmaker Kaveh Nabatian, the film merges the cinematic tone of Vollebekk’s Revelation album with his visual storytelling.

“Revelation always reminded me of a dream sequence, the songs felt like a little movie, and I wanted to see that movie,” Vollebekk says. “AURORA and I had been fans of each other’s music for years and kept talking about finding the right way to collaborate. When I mentioned I couldn’t find a lead actor for a film I was working on, she simply said, ‘I’ll do it. Come to Norway.’ Two weeks later, we were filming. I can’t thank her enough for what she brought to it - her radiant presence, her generosity, and that unmistakable voice.”

Vollebekk will kick off his U.S. tour in early November 2025, with a newly announced European tour set for February 2026.

The announcement arrives during an extraordinary period for Vollebekk. This fall, he will embark on his largest U.S. headline tour to date, including stops at Webster Hall in New York City and The Bellwether in Los Angeles, followed by a full European tour in February 2026. Earlier this year, he sold out his biggest Australian tour to date and joined Mumford & Sons on their Railroad Revival Tour, as well as supporting Gregory Alan Isakov at Red Rocks Amphitheatre and Jacob Collier across Europe. Vollebekk also appeared at the You Got Gold John Prine tribute at Nashville’s Ryman Auditorium, and will perform at Noah Kahan’s Out Of The Blue Festival in early 2026.

His song “Moondog” saw a recent resurgence after a feature in Netflix’s hit series Untamed, charting on Shazam’s Top 10 in Canada and Australia, #13 in the UK, #15 in the U.S., and #35 worldwide.

Vollebekk’s latest album, Revelation, has been hailed by critics and fans alike since its release. Recorded at Sunset Sound and Dreamland in Woodstock, the album feels both spiritual and grounded, an exploration of time, nature, and consciousness that blends narrative lyrics and one-take vocal performances with lush, cinematic arrangements. Inspired by Jung’s I Ching and the science of alchemy, Revelation reflects on the mysteries of the divine and the beauty of impermanence.

An artist’s artist, Vollebekk self-produced Revelation, performing piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion, and Moog synthesizer, alongside a cast of legendary collaborators including Jim Keltner (drums), Cindy Cashdollar (steel guitar), and Shahzad Ismaily (bass), with additional vocals from Angie McMahon and Anaïs Mitchell. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.

LEIF VOLLEBEKK & ANGIE MCMAHON SHARE COVER OF THE EAGLES’ “TAKE IT TO THE LIMIT”

Photo Credit: Nicholas Sutton Bell // DOWNLOAD HIGH-RES

Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leif Vollebekk and Australian singer-songwriter and musician Angie McMahon have unveiled a captivating new cover of The Eagles' iconic hit “Take It To The Limit”. With emotive vocals and haunting lap steel arrangements from the Grammy Award winning musician Cindy Cashdollar, (renowned for her work with Bob Dylan, Van Morrison, Ryan Adams), Vollebekk and McMahon reimagine “Take It To The Limit”, offering a fresh yet reverent interpretation to this timeless anthem.

On “Take It To The Limit” Vollebekk honors a major musical influence. “My good friend Angie McMahon and I spontaneously recorded ‘Take It To The Limit’, my favourite Eagles song, when I was last in Australia. I grew up listening to those gorgeous Eagles harmonies with my dad. One cassette, side A, side B. And flip it again. I love the orchestra (it’s partly why I added an orchestra on Revelation) but it’s the blend of their voices that gets me on this song.

“The artwork is a photo I took on a solo roadtrip from Colorado to Los Angeles, passing through the painted desert, Winslow, Arizona and the mystical Joshua Tree. ‘Put me on a highway / Show me a sign.’ You don’t know exactly what it means but you know how it feels. I feel it has a little bit of that California magic.”

Revelation, and subsequent singles “Peace of Mind (Morning)” and “Peace of Mind (Evening)”, have received rave reviews by critics and fans alike since their release. Le Devoir gave it ★★★★, while Exclaim! shares an 8/10, stating, “The image shimmers, a mirage in crystal clear water that sparkles before it disappears in a crash of waves. It's in these images that Vollebekk's subconscious is both amplified and reconstructed. Rolling Stone wants everyone to discover “Rock and Roll” and included it in their “Songs You Need To Know” feature, while Atwood Magazine cherishes another favorite; “A dreamy reverie basking in the glow of intimate connection, Leif Vollebekk’s “Peace of Mind (Evening)” is sweet bliss channeled into soul-stirring sound.” In addition, Leif's music was synced in last night's episode of Shrinking on Apple TV+, bringing his signature sound to viewers worldwide.

Recorded at both Sunset Sound in Los Angeles and Dreamland in Woodstock, New York, Revelation is both ethereal and grounded, evoking a deep sense of introspection. The 11 tracks on Vollebekk’s Revelation blend narrative lyrics with one-take lead vocal performances, cinematic arrangements, rich soundscapes, and lush orchestration. Influenced by explorations of Carl Jung’s I Ching, alchemy, and the unknown, Vollebekk crafts an organic, earthy reflection on nature—water, stars, mortality—while contemplating life’s ever-changing present, infused with existential doubt and the search for meaning.

An artist’s artist with many colleagues as admirers, Vollebekk – who self-produced and played piano, guitar, bass, B3 organ, harmonica, accordion and Moog synthesizer on Revelation – compiled an impressive supporting cast that speaks to the caliber of musicianship and feel of the recordings, including legendary drummer Jim Keltner, notable steel guitarist Cindy Cashdollar (Bob Dylan, Van Morrison and Rod Stewart), and revered bassist Shahzad Ismaily. His other album collaborators included artists Angie McMahon and Anaïs Mitchell on background vocals. The album was mixed by Tchad Blake (Tom Waits, Arctic Monkeys, Tracy Chapman) and mastered by Greg Calbi.

LEIF VOLLEBEKK SHARES NEW VERSION OF SINGLE, “PEACE OF MIND (MORNING)”

Photo Credit: Kiddihjalmur // DOWNLOAD HIGH-RES

Today, Canadian singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist Leif Vollebekk reveals an acoustic version of “Peace of Mind” off his critically acclaimed new record Revelation. “Peace of Mind (Morning),” is a captivating acoustic take. “‘Peace of Mind (Morning)’ felt like it wanted its own space, separate from the album version,” says Vollebekk. He adds: “there’s something about a mountain that always makes you feel at ease. It can inspire the stillness you need to find yourself. In the I Ching, Keeping Still (symbolized by a mountain) is the way to peace of mind. Considering the title, it’s rather ironic that I’ve spent more time recording this song than any other. I’ve recorded 4 or 5 different versions of this song.”

“Peace of Mind (Morning)” arrives alongside an official visualizer directed by Andy Mann, offering fans a sensory journey that pairs perfectly with the song's immersive tones. Vollebekk is currently performing across the United States on a nationwide tour supporting Revelation. The tour continues with stops in major cities, bringing his intimate yet electrifying live experience to fans coast-to-coast. In the new year, the tour will progress to Canada, with stops in Montreal, Toronto, Vancouver and more.

Revelation has been raved by critics and fans alike since its release on September 27th. Bedroom Disco calls it “by far the best work by this talented singer-songwriter to date,” a sentiment echoed by Musikreview in Germany. In England, Americana UK offered a 9/10 and shared that “[Vollebekk] has delivered a superb piece of work. ‘Revelation’ is an apt a title as any for an album that deserves a place on those end-of-year lists so beloved by, well, everyone.” Le Devoir gave it ★★★★, while Exclaim! shares an 8/10, stating, “The image shimmers, a mirage in crystal clear water that sparkles before it disappears in a crash of waves.
