Ten years ago today, Ra Ra Riot released their sophomore album The Orchard. In celebration of the anniversary, the band is excited to now release The Orchard (10th Anniversary Edition), an expanded version of the record that features b-sides and alternate versions of songs from the album, some of which have not been available on digital services before or have never before been heard.

Highlights include vintage remixes of the album’s biggest hit “Boy” by RAC and fan-favorite “Too Dramatic” by Anamanaguchi, and a cover of the 1971 Sparks deep cut “Saccharine and the War”.

The follow-up to The Rhumb Line, their critically acclaimed debut, The Orchard was written in a country house near a peach orchard in Penn Yan, New York. There, the band embarked upon mammoth writing sessions punctuated by new adventures in cooking, playing bocce, and simply enjoying the benefits of country living. The house had prior history with the band - guitarist Milo Bonacci, while house sitting during a break from his architecture studies at Syracuse University in the winter of 2005, began writing songs there that would eventually appear on Ra Ra Riot’s debut.

The Orchard was produced by Ra Ra Riot and Andrew Maury and mixed by Death Cab for Cutie co-founder Chris Walla (except for "Do You Remember," which was mixed by Vampire Weekend’s Rostam Batmanglij). Upon its original release, The Orchard debuted #36 on the Billboard Top 200 album chart and was met with critical praise, with New York Magazine hailing it as "poised to become the soundtrack to your life," and NPR lauding its "sophistication, precision and polish."

Today Ra Ra Riot has released their fourth full length album, Need Your Light, via Arts & Crafts. Need Your Light sees the band getting back to their house party roots without abandoning the more heady soundscapes they explored with 2013's Beta Love. The result is an album that's celebratory without being saccharine as the group has collectively mined their prior experiences in order to craft something that looks toward the future with an optimistic gaze.

Earlier this year Ra Ra Riot shared singles "Absolutely", which has surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify to date, and "Water" which has neared 2 million streams. “Water” is a collaboration with Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend, Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen) and showcases Ra Ra Riot's heightened levels of experimentation found throughout Need Your Light. Third single "Foreign Lovers" and much of Need Your Light was produced by Ryan Hadlock (Vance Joy, Blonde Redhead) while both "Water" and the title track were produced by Rostam who has a long history with the band.

Ra Ra Riot has confirmed the first tour in support of Need Your Light beginning March 2 with stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Full North American tour dates can be found below. Ra Ra Riot is Wes Miles (vocals), Mathieu Santos (bass), Milo Bonacci (guitar), Rebecca Zeller (violin), and Kenny Bernard (drums)

"Foreign Lovers" and much of Need Your Light was produced by Ryan Hadlock (Vance Joy, Blonde Redhead). However, both the title track and "Water" were produced by Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend, Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen), who has a long-time association with the band.

Ra Ra Riot has confirmed the first tour in support of Need Your Light beginning March 2 with stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Full North American tour dates can be found below.

Earlier this year Ra Ra Riot shared singles "Absolutely", which has surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify to date, and "Water" which has neared 2 million streams. “Water” is a collaboration with Rostam and showcases Ra Ra Riot's heightened levels of experimentation found throughout Need Your Light. Both tracks have seen significant attention; "Water" peaked at #25 on FMQB, KCRW posted it as "Today's Top Tune" earlier this year, and the it was just included in Sirius' Alt Nation's Alt 18. Last week Ra Ra Riot shared Dim Sum's remix of "Absolutely" which you can listen to below.

Harper’s Bazaar recently included Need Your Light in their ‘10 Albums You Need To Listen To In February’ saying, "the singles from Light don't stray from the band's fun indie vibe, especially 'Absolutely' which the band fittingly released on New Year's Day. ‘It's the year of absolutely being, absolutely nothing, absolutely crushing,' they sing, possibly foreshadowing what the forthcoming album holds.” WNYC pegged "Absolutely” as an "undeniable bit of synthpop" and Stereogum labeled it ebullient".

Need Your Light is the fourth full-length from Ra Ra Riot and sees the band getting back to their house party roots without abandoning the more heady soundscapes they explored with 2013's Beta Love. The result is an album that's celebratory without being saccharine and that sees the group collectively mining their prior experiences in order to craft something that looks toward the future with an optimistic gaze.

Ra Ra Riot is Wes Miles (vocals), Mathieu Santos (bass), Milo Bonacci (guitar), Rebecca Zeller (violin), and Kenny Bernard (drums)
