MAJICAL CLOUDZ RELEASES PREVIOUSLY UNANNOUNCED FIVE SONG DIGITAL EP WAIT & SEE

LONG AWAITED NORTH AMERICAN TOUR BEGINS TONIGHT IN TORONTO, STOPS IN VANCOUVER ON JANUARY 22 AND CONCLUDES IN MONTREAL ON MARCH 10

LISTEN TO WAIT & SEE EP HERE

The Montreal musical-performance duo project Majical Cloudz has released a previously unannounced five song digital EP Wait & See via Arts & Crafts, a welcome addition to the recently released and critically acclaimed sophomore album Are You Alone? Announced via the band’s Tumblr this morning, the group’s vocalist Devon Welsh wrote: “We put together this EP of songs that we recorded when we were working on Are You Alone?, but which didn’t fit on that album for one reason or another. They aren’t more recent than the songs on AYA— they date from different periods of time, one of them is among the earliest songs written for AYA and others are more recent. Despite the fact that it’s a collection of songs that didn’t make the record, I think there is a feeling that links them all together (which is maybe why they didn’t fit on AYA). We hope you enjoy these songs!”

Majical Cloudz embarks on a tour of North America today, its first proper outing since the album’s release and the wave of accolades that followed in its wake (including yearend honors from PitchforkExclaim!USA TodaySPINPasteUnder the Radar, and many more. The duo is renowned for its incredible conceptual performances - at turns somber and silly (and occasionally both simultaneously) -  once described by Lorde (who brought the group out as support on her 2014 North America tour) as "one of the most simple and moving things I have seen, ever".  All tour dates are listed below and include a tour kick off performance in Toronto tonight at The Garrison, a stop in Vancouver on January 22 at Imperial and a just announced hometown performance in Montreal on March 10 at La Sala Rosa.

Following a landmark ninth annual Basement Revue residency at Toronto’s Dakota Tavern throughout December, Jason Collett  shares “Forever Young Is Getting Old”, the third song to be revealed from Song And Dance Man, his upcoming sixth full-length album. Whistling its way through two and half minutes of a toe-tapping beat, the iconic songwriter paints a wistful yet poignant picture of life in the not-so-fast lane: “It was easy come and easy go, now there’s no easy road,” Jason sings over shuffling bass, elastic guitar, and playful call-and-response. “Forever Young Is Getting Old” is available for purchase on January 15, and is an instant download for album pre-orders as of January 18 alongside first singles “Love You Babe” and “Song And Dance Man”.

Produced by Bahamas’ Afie Jurvanen, Song And Dance Man’s thirteen songs bear the wit and melody of classic Jason Collett: contemplative reflections on getting older, backed with an affinity for freewheeling disco music. The album’s conspiring themes of love & loneliness, sun & shadows, are buoyed by its soaring sound. Each song rises into an easy, spacious groove, lead by Jason’s languid melodies and Afie’s sun-drunk bass.

The result is a dynamic addition to a strong body of work. Recorded in spring 2015 with long-time collaborators drummer/engineer Don Kerr (at his Rooster Studio), Christine Bougie on guitar & lap steel, Zeus’ Neil Quin on backing vocals, and Afie holding it down on the bass, Song And Dance Man may be Jason Collett’s finest effort yet. The storied songwriter is back in the spotlight, more comfortable than ever in the guise of entertainer.

Curated and hosted by Collett and poet Damian Rogers, this year’s Basement Revue included Tagaq, Torquil Campbell (Stars), Joseph Boyden, TUNS, Sarah Harmer, Kevin Drew, Tracey Lindberg, Reuben And The Dark, Mark Goldstein, Charlotte Cornfield, Arkells, Ron Sexsmith, Hannah Georgas, and many more.

LITTLE SCREAM SIGNS TO DINE ALONE RECORDS

LITTLE SCREAM SIGNS TO DINE ALONE RECORDS

ACCLAIMED MONTREAL-BASED ARTIST PREPARES FOR UPCOMING ALBUM

CATCH LITTLE SCREAM ON UPCOMING TOURS WITH OPERATORS AND THAO & THE GET DOWN STAY DOWN BEGINNING FEBRUARY 17

Montreal based multi-instrumentalist, writer, and visual artist LITTLE SCREAM is more than pleased to announce her signing with Dine Alone Records in Canada and Merge Records (Arcade Fire, Caribou, Destroyer) for the rest of the world for a new LP to be released later this year. "I'm genuinely amped and honored to be working with Dine Alone,” says Laurel Sprengelmeyer (aka, Little Scream). “My new record is a crazy beast and I can't think of a better home for it. Me and the Dine Alone staff are gonna go shoot off some bottle rockets and drink Ten High out of dixie cups later on to celebrate."

Long listed for the Polaris Music Prize in 2011, her debut album, The Golden Record, received a glowing 8.1 on Pitchfork, which considered it "a stellar debut...[and] a perfectly mixed bag of graceful folk, coiled pop, and expansive art rock". NPR dubbed it "an absolutely captivating record", including it on their Best Albums of 2011 list, and the New York Times evoked its "hints of the divine", naming her one of the best new acts to follow at SXSW.

Little Scream toured extensively with The Golden Record, playing numerous opening and headlining performances in North America and Europe, including a tour with Sufjan Stevens that saw her play to a sold out crowd at Massey Hall as well as dates with Beirut, Jose Gonzales and Sharon Van Etten.

More details on Little Scream’s sophomore album will be announced shortly. Until then she’ll be on the road across North America on tours with Operators and Thao & The Get Down Stay Down beginning February 17. Full tour dates can be found below.

PRAISE FOR THE GOLDEN RECORD

“...an absolutely captivating record. It's got a lot of push and pull: It's very powerful, very delicate, very dreamy and meditative, but also very poppy and catchy. -- Robin Hilton, NPR

"Little Scream seeks many elusive things on her wisely idiosyncratic debut album, “The Golden Record” (Secretly Canadian). There are distant lovers, fading memories, hints of the divine and, most of all, feelings that words can’t possibly describe. Perhaps that’s why her music mutates from song to song, and often within them. She can be gentle and folky or muster mock-classical strings and flute; she overdubs herself into a hearty campfire choir or an ethereal descant. She can be stark and electric like P. J. Harvey or gather up a grand, handmade anthem like Arcade Fire...”Jon Pareles, NEW YORK TIMES

“...a stellar debut...Sprengelmeyer sounds both worn from experience and inspired by something she can't yet imagine, the peripatetic sort who's old enough to be wise but young enough to be adventurous. That's the great thread that runs through this album, a perfectly mixed bag of graceful folk, coiled pop, and expansive art rock....The Golden Record is the document of a real-life wanderer who sings about drift and regret, dreams and reality...infinitely approachable and enjoyable welcome by an artist who sounds like she's here now, for the duration.” – Grayson Currin, PITCHFORK

“4.5 stars...flitting between scaled-down folk music and lush, widescreen panoramas of sound...This is an absolute beast of a debut.”Andrew Leahey, ALLMUSIC.COM

“The Golden record is a moody, bold, artful declaration” EXCLAIM!
