Following last weekend’s performance at the Horseshoe Tavern in their hometown, Sam Cash & The Romantic Dogs are getting set to support their upcoming album with a string of tour dates beginning March 22 that takes them from Canada’s west coast all the way home to Toronto’s Rivoli. Known as one of the most formidable live outfits in the city, fans can watch the band perform the lead single from Tongue-In-Cheek Vows, “Tossing & Turning” in the new live video from Southern Souls.

Set for release on March 25 via Cameron House Records, Tongue-In-Cheek Vows perfectly captures that moment when a young artist and his cohorts find their collective voice and suddenly realize that there are no limits to what they can accomplish together. The album is Cash’ third album and the second with the Romantic Dogs. It follows the group’s acclaimed 2013 debut, Stand Together, Fall Together, an album that earned more attention than even Cash was hoping for, given how spontaneously it was made. While the rambunctiousness that drew fans and critics to that album is on full display, Cash chose to take more time to develop Tongue-In-Cheek Vows. Working in tandem with producer and bona fide Canadian alt-rock legend Ian Blurton (Change Of Heart, C’Mon, Public Animal), Cash and the Dogs have served up 11 tracks brimming with lyrics as razor-sharp as the performances driving them. Those who have followed Cash’s development to this point are sure to be stunned by the self-awareness and insight into the human condition embedded in songs like the album’s first focus track “Tossing & Turning” as well as “That Was The Summer” and “Carmen,” from which the album’s title was drawn.

Cash views Tongue-In-Cheek Vows not just as a mere coming-of-age document, but a symbol of how he has embraced the craft of songwriting itself. “These songs were written during a three or four year period starting when I was 19, which is a pretty exciting time for anyone,” he says. “But what I love most about songs are those moments when you hear something and it hits you in a very specific way, and you’re not even thinking about what the writer’s intentions are. That’s the ultimate effect I would like my music to have on people, when they can make their own connection, which is just as real and meaningful as what was in my head when I wrote the song.”

Those who have been around long enough will undoubtedly hear echoes of Cash’s father Andrew Cash, part of Toronto’s original punk rock community and later one of Canada’s most respected singer-songwriters. Yet, from the time Sam launched his own music career in his late teens, he’s forged his own uncompromising path toward establishing a name within the Toronto underground rock scene.

CHARLOTTE CORNFIELD SHARES NEW SONG "MERCURY" FROM UPCOMING ALBUM 'FUTURE SNOWBIRD' OUT MARCH 11

CHARLOTTE CORNFIELD SHARES NEW SONG “MERCURY”

TORONTO SONGWRITER SHARES “MERCURY” FEATURING TIM DARCY (OUGHT) FROM UPCOMING ALBUM, FUTURE SNOWBIRD, OUT MARCH 11 VIA CONSONANT RECORDS

With only a few short weeks left till the release of Charlotte Cornfield’s upcoming album, Future Snowbird, the Toronto songwriter is treating audiences to another glimpse of what’s in store. Joined on the mic by Tim Darcy (Ought), “Mercury” moves between polar opposites. “I wanted to write something that touched on the volatility of moods, the quickness at which things can go from light to dark,” says Cornfield. “These shifts have always been very present for me and the imagery in this song reflects that; fleeting beauty, crushing illness, souring milk.”

“I asked my friend Tim Darcy (of Ought) to sing on this one because I thought his voice would be the perfect antidote to mine, causing this push and pull in line delivery that I think really captures the sentiment of the song. I've been a fan of Tim's since we were both kicking around the college scene in Montreal 7 or 8 years ago. We've become close friends and have started collaborating regularly, and I'm so happy he was able to lend his voice to this track.”

Set for release on March 11 via Consonant Records, Cornfield tested out her upcoming album Future Snowbird with audiences during her recent residency at The Cameron House where she was joined onstage by many friends and guests, including Tim Darcy and Kevin Drew (Broken Social Scene). Now ready to hit the road to support the new record she will begin a string of tour dates on March 3. Full tour dates can be found below.

On Future Snowbird Cornfield sings clever, heart-wrenching songs in a lived-in, streetwise drawl. The record grew from Cornfield’s time living in New York and the background noise of her moments in the city: a formative relationship, a vicious bout of psoriasis, and an overall constellation of ups and downs.

The album was recorded live off the floor at Rooster Studios in Toronto with Cornfield's longtime bandmates Sam Gleason, Damon Hankoff, Kathryn Palumbo, and Sam Rosenberg, and produced and engineered by Don Kerr (Ron Sexsmith, The Rheostatics), with guest performances by Tim Darcy and Johnny Spence (Tegan & Sara). The result is Cornfield's strongest statement to date, each song a moodscape all its own.

Recently Charlotte Cornfield completed a residency at the prestigious Banff Centre, where she recorded and collaborated with Brendan Canning, Kevin Drew, and Charles Spearin of Broken Social Scene. Aside from her work as a solo artist, Charlotte Cornfield has held down the drum chair for Ben Caplan, Peter Nevins, and Adrian Underhill. She recently began working on a new project with Tim Darcy and beyond her own discography she has a vault of recording and performing credits as a drummer and singer with The Provincial Archive, Anais Mitchell, The Reverend John DeLore, and The Keys. Her songs have appeared in films and television shows internationally, and she's shared stages with the likes of Sharon Van Etten, Sun Kil Moon, and Lake Street Dive.

Today Ra Ra Riot has released their fourth full length album, Need Your Light, via Arts & Crafts. Need Your Light sees the band getting back to their house party roots without abandoning the more heady soundscapes they explored with 2013's Beta Love. The result is an album that's celebratory without being saccharine as the group has collectively mined their prior experiences in order to craft something that looks toward the future with an optimistic gaze.

Earlier this year Ra Ra Riot shared singles "Absolutely", which has surpassed 1 million streams on Spotify to date, and "Water" which has neared 2 million streams. “Water” is a collaboration with Rostam Batmanglij (Vampire Weekend, Charli XCX, Carly Rae Jepsen) and showcases Ra Ra Riot's heightened levels of experimentation found throughout Need Your Light. Third single "Foreign Lovers" and much of Need Your Light was produced by Ryan Hadlock (Vance Joy, Blonde Redhead) while both "Water" and the title track were produced by Rostam who has a long history with the band.

Ra Ra Riot has confirmed the first tour in support of Need Your Light beginning March 2 with stops in Toronto, Montreal, and Vancouver. Full North American tour dates can be found below. Ra Ra Riot is Wes Miles (vocals), Mathieu Santos (bass), Milo Bonacci (guitar), Rebecca Zeller (violin), and Kenny Bernard (drums)
