Toronto’s Dilly Dally have confirmed a North American headline tour for 2019 beginning March 18 behind their new record, Heaven, out now via Dine Alone. Full tour dates below with tickets on sale on November 16.

The band has also shared a new animated music video for Marijuana, directed by Andrew Knives. A subject matter particularly close to the band’s heart, and especially relevant following the recent legalization of cannabis in Canada, singer/guitarist Katie Monks says:

“We’ve been inhaling so much fear and hate from our televisions, our leaders, social media…I don’t know about you, but the anxiety and eventual depression became overbearing.

The only way I could keep functioning, and get through writing this record, was with some assistance from weed. Basically, if I didn’t write anything good by sun down - I would smoke sativa for good measure. It would clear my creative pathways, help me forget about the expectations of others, and almost hide away in my own protective energy field.

Legalization in Canada is one tiny step toward an uphill battle of reconciliation with all of our citizens – primarily people of color - who for decades have been arrested unfairly for dealing, possession, etc. There are still many laws prohibiting how we’re able to access, consume, and sell cannabis.

So while we still have a long way to go - I’m happy to contribute a song that may perhaps help shed off the stigma that weed is anything other than a sacred tool that many cultures cherish. It needs to be respected.”

Heaven as been one of the best-reviewed albums of the year, met with spotlights from Noisey, Fader, Rolling Stone, Billboard, Uproxx, NY Times and Vulture.

Recently, Montreal duo Folly & The Hunter, multi-instrumentalists Laurie Torres (Rae Spoon, Little Scream, Land of Talk) and Nick Vallee, announced their indefinite hiatus and today they are announcing their hometown farewell show on December 14 at Montreal’s Bar le ritz PDB. Tickets to the show are available here.

On the hiatus, the band says "Taking a break has nothing to do with our love of making music. It truly warms our hearts each time we hear from a fan about how we have impacted them, and we cherish the time we have spent playing around the world. But keeping a band active long-term takes the right circumstances, and as time passes, those circumstances have become hard for us to sustain. We love performing and creating, but a musician's life can also be quite difficult. We both need to focus on other things for a while, for our mental and physical health. We are so happy that we are able to share this new album with you all. Both the compositions and the lyrics reflect the bittersweet nature of this hiatus, and it's a fitting farewell to this period in our lives."

The band is also sharing the new video for “The Line” from their latest LP, Remains, out now via Outside Music. The film, created by JUNO Award-winning director Christopher Mills of Number Four Films, is a series of cinematic studies of the flow of water.

Remains was recorded over 2 weeks at the Tragically Hip’s Bathouse Studios, the goal was to get the band sequestered into a studio without outside distractions and have them live and breathe the making of this album. Engineer Nyles Spencer was a source of technical inspiration with Nick handling bass and guitar duties while Laurie played most of the other instruments. Mathieu Parisien (Karkwa, Patrick Watson, Aidan Knight) mixed the album.

Having previously recorded as a quartet, the pair had made their sketches of the songs at their Montreal rehearsal space and fleshed them out fully in Bath. Both Laurie and Nick used the loose and relaxed environment to get back to the enjoyment they had when they first started collaborating.

MIKE EDEL’S “CHALLENGER” EXAMINES PROGRESS, TECHNOLOGY, AND THE FUTURE IN NEW VIDEO

2018 CANADIAN TOUR DATES WRAP UP NOVEMBER 24 IN VICTORIA

“What is the future, if this is now?” asks Canadian-born Mike Edel in the lush indie-rock track “Challenger”, recounting the space shuttle Challenger tragedy in which millions of people around the world collectively tuned into their TV sets on January 26, 1986. That question similarly echoes throughout Edel’s latest singles “Go With You” and “31”, produced by Death Cab for Cutie’s Chris Walla.

“The song ‘Challenger’ presents a moment in a time when the world felt out of control, and left us with a collective sense of confusion and disorientation,” says Edel. “Sometimes in life we are faced with events that just make the stakes feel a little higher. In these moments, we are presented with a choice: do we resign and despair, or do we with courage, embrace hope? ‘Challenger’ doesn’t provide an answer but rather takes us to the edge of this moment, to a threshold, and leaves us with the question: ‘How do I take this, how do I carry the news? What is the future if this is now?’”

Edel’s music has been streamed 2 million times across major platforms, being in rotation on CBC Music, AAA Radio across the United States, and on Sirius XM’s The Loft. In the past few years he’s played hundreds of shows including Rifflandia Festival, Vancouver Folk Festival, Regina Folk Festival, Victoria International Jazz Festival, and Upstream Music Festival, having shared the stage with Serena Ryder, Foy Vance, Said The Whale, and Josh Garrels.
