Today, Wintersleep are sharing another track off their upcoming LP, In The Land Of, due out March 29. “Into The Shape Of Your Heart” revolves around the idea of diving into love fully and celebrating it. “Lyrically, it’s a loose narrative of someone showing up to the house of someone he loves and trying to win her heart for the first time or to get it back,” says vocalist Paul Murphy. “I guess there’s room for interpretation but it’s maybe also just trying to capture a snapshot of a moment of two people trying to have a conversation that ends in a dance.”

Due out via Dine Alone Records, In the Land Of has already been marked as one of the most anticipated records of 2019 by Exclaim! and CBC Music. The album studies geography, both real and imagined. It is understood that our surroundings are not, in fact, essential or concrete elements; they’re constructed in relation to us, the inhabitants. Our identities, too, are constructed in relation to the land. The land, both physical and figurative, changes, and so do we. Familiar land. Foreign land. Inhospitable land. Unceded land. Stolen land. Dead land.

Like all Wintersleep records, In the Land Of encourages thought and introspection. The new record’s title is an incomplete thought, a blank that is filled in across the record with different places, words, and sounds. “A lot of the songs touch on this idea of being a stranger or feeling foreign in all the different landscapes in which the songs took place lyrically,” explains Murphy. “It all relates back to the land,” adds guitarist Tim D’Eon.

In the Land Of is available for pre-order now at all leading online music retailers. In addition, bundles are now on sale at the official Wintersleep online store, including tote bags, limited edition clear and splatter vinyl, t-shirts, and much more.

New album "In the Land Of" out March 29, 2019!

The LP follows 2016’s The Great Detachment, which saw CanCon Rock Single Of The Year “Amerika” spend 11 consecutive weeks atop Canada’s rock radio charts, remaining in the Top 10 for over 7 months as well as winning an Indie Award for Single Of The Year and a JUNO Award nomination for Adult Alternative Album.

On March 20, 2019, Wintersleep will take to the road with tour dates throughout Canada. Full tour dates can be found below with tickets on sale now. The band has also announced their upcoming performances at SXSW at the Dine Alone Showcase on March 13 and at the Driskill Hotel on March 16. The JUNO Award winners have previously toured several continents and shared stages with Pearl Jam, Broken Social Scene and the Hold Steady, a performance on Late Night with David Letterman and even an opening slot for Sir Paul McCartney.

CHARLOTTE CORNFIELD SHARES NEW TRACK, ANNOUNCES TOUR DATES WITH TIM BAKER

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES WITH TIM BAKER BEGIN APRIL 19

NEW LP, THE SHAPE OF YOUR NAME, DUE APRIL 5 VIA NEXT DOOR RECORDS, THE NEW LABEL FROM OUTSIDE MUSIC

Today, celebrated Toronto songwriter Charlotte Cornfield reveals “Storm Clouds”, the track that was the catalyst for everything else on her upcoming LP, The Shape Of Your Name. “It was the first thing I recorded in Banff, a few days after arriving,” says Cornfield. “I had been carrying around the ‘storm clouds, elation, desire, mania, darkness’ refrain for a long time – it’s a personal meditation. But I have this habit of not finishing songs until I have to, so it took being in the studio to pull it all together. I couldn’t figure out how to end it and then Brendan Canning suggested bringing back the refrain and that just felt right.”

The track features Cornfield on drums and guitar, Charles Spearin on bass and horns, and Kevin Drew on backing vocals. "He lives those words as much as I do," says Cornfield. “Storm Clouds” is available on all streaming platforms February 22.

"Storm Clouds" from the upcoming album 'The Shape of Your Name' out April 5, 2019 on Next Door Records.

Beginning on April 19, Cornfield will embark on a run on North American tour dates supporting Tim Baker (Hey Rosetta!). Full tour dates can be found below.

Set to arrive April 5 via Outside Music’s new imprint Next Door Records, The Shape Of Your Name has a more refined studio sound than her scrappier 2016 release Future Snowbird, and for good reason: it was recorded in 5 different sessions over the course of 3 years. The songs are her strongest and most striking to date - contemplative and contemporary, funny and heart-wrenching - and they’ve got that stuck-in-your-head-for-days quality that Cornfield is known for. The Shape Of Your Name features a star-studded cast of collaborators including (but not limited to) Grammy-winning engineer Shawn Everett, Broken Social Scene members Brendan Canning, Kevin Drew, and Charles Spearin, and Montreal songwriter Leif Vollebekk.

“My initial intention wasn’t to make a record at all,” Charlotte muses. “The whole thing kind of happened by accident. I went to The Banff Centre to do a residency and came out with these recordings that I knew I wanted to use for something but wasn’t sure what.” She brought the unfinished songs to her former roommate Nigel Ward in Montreal. “He fell into the producer role seamlessly. We took it slow and just tried things for a while until the vision settled in. There was no rush. It was freeing, and it gave the songs a lot of breathing room to develop.”

The job has offered her stability and a strong sense of place in Toronto’s bursting-at-the-gills music community. She’s also an in-demand drummer and side musician, and has worked closely with Tim Darcy of Ought, Molly Burch, Adrian Underhill, and members of Lake Street Dive. She has toured extensively in North America and Europe and has supported a huge range of artists including Broken Social Scene, Anais Mitchell, Daniel Romano, and Sam Amidon.

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES BEGIN FEBRUARY 27

ACCLAIMED NEW ALBUM, BOTH WAYS, OUT NOW

Today, Donovan Woods drops an animated lyric video for “Go to Her”, the latest release following his critically-acclaimed full-length album Both Ways, which has earned the singer-songwriter Polaris Music Prize and JUNO Award nominations, as well as attention from Rolling Stone, Fader, Billboard, American Songwriter, and more.

Illustrated by long-time collaborator, Andrey Sorokin, the video is a first-person perspective of life on the road and living out of hotels, “It’s about what you decide to do the day after something big and bad happens, and it’s about the anxiety we feel for our loved ones’ safety when we’re away from them,” explains Woods, “when you’re a touring performer, waiting around for the show can be a real killer.”

Following the release of his latest critically-acclaimed album, Donovan Woods shares "Go To Her." Originally recorded at the same time as "Both Ways," but cut from the final tracklist, "Go To Her" is a fitting complement to an album that's a study in contrasts, as one would expect from its name.

The digital release of “Go to Her” last month had Rolling Stone applauding the track, noting that it “shows off [Donovan’s] subtle mastery of storytelling”.

The song’s release was followed by two nominations at the upcoming 2019 JUNO Awards for Songwriter of the Year and Contemporary Roots Album of the Year (Both Ways). Last month Woods dropped his five-part “Live At Southern Ground Studios” video series, and he will embark on a run of North American tour dates starting February 27. Full tour dates can be found below.
