TL_WesternCanada_Q42019 (1).jpg

A lot has happened for Terra Lightfoot in the past two years - a four-continent cascade of high-energy concerts across the United States, Canada, Japan, Australia and the United Kingdom; a triumphant performance at Toronto’s Massey Hall; a winter tour of the US midwest and Western Canada; a hometown double-header with a classical string ensemble; a buzzed-about weekend in the spotlight at the JUNO Awards; six weeks supporting The Posies on US dates; a Toronto date supporting of Willie Nelson; producing and performing in a new all-female tour property, The Longest Road Show; the list goes on. And on. And on.

With her critically acclaimed third album New Mistakes (Sonic Unyon Records), soulful rocker Terra Lightfoot has been a non-stop touring machine, racking up hundreds of dates on the van odometer — and JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize nominations to boot.

The road that began in the fall of 2017 stretches on deep into the fall of 2019, with the latest announcement being a two-week run of Western Canadian dates supported by singer-songwriter, and newly announced Sonic Unyon labelmate, Sam Weber. Tickets for these shows will go on sale this Thursday, September 5 at 10am local time. Full tour dates follow below.

Sam Weber is a singer-songwriter and multi-instrumentalist in the vein of Jackson Browne, The Band, The Wood Brothers, and Gillian Welch. Years spent refining songs at home in North Saanich, BC and working in studios in Los Angeles, CA have honed Weber’s craft to a fine point. His live show pairs heartfelt songwriting with world-class musicianship and three-part harmony.

About the tour, Weber says “on October 30th we’re setting out across the great Canadian wilds with my good friend Terra Lightfoot. She and her band inspire both young and old. They spent the summer winning hearts all across North America. We can’t wait to link up with them and our Sonic Unyon family for a special run of shows this fall. We have a lot to celebrate. See you out there!"

Weber’s recent EP, New Agile Freedom, which earned substantial buzz, serves as a preview for his anticipated new album Everything Comes True. Featuring a superb slate of songs and a heavyweight roster of West Coast players, the album arrives October 25, 2019, on Sonic Unyon Records. Watch for more news on the upcoming LP to be announced shortly

PRAISE FOR TERRA LIGHTFOOT

"Canada’s Terra Lightfoot has a huge voice and a big and gutsy guitar tone to match. The powerful double-barreled musical attack makes her latest album simultaneously alluring and exciting. It’s packed with dynamics and moods, and it traverses styles from southern and classic rock to ambient to blues to echoes of Marc Bolan and T. Rex." – Guitar Player

"If you haven't seen Terra Lightfoot perform live, then do yerself a favour and get a ticket next time she's in town. Lightfoot is the total package: she can write a hooky tune, rip through a blistering guitar solo and sing the hell out of any song she likes" – CBC Music

“Ms. Lightfoot’s voice is as dominant as ever, straddling Memphis soul and urban blues with ease, and boy… can she write a song” - No Depression

“She could be your new rock ‘n’ roll hero. Drawing from rock, soul & blues, Terra Lightfoot is a monster talent that will be gracing the world’s largest festival stages in no time” - PopMatters

PRAISE FOR SAM WEBER

“I think the song of the year is “Ex-Lover” by Sam Weber. The guy’s a hell of a songwriter, great musician, great guitarist… he’s going to do big things” – Afie Jurvanen, Bahamas

“[Weber] is an expert tunesmith, brimming with addictive, adventurous and confident pieces. Infused with deep wit and wisdom, Weber’s output is truly impressive. His guitar work is also killer, full of nuance, soul and a truly unique voice.… We’ll be hearing a lot more from Weber in the coming years and, more than likely, decades” – Guitar Player

“One of Canada’s most powerful young songwriters, with hefty guitar chops to boot” - FYI Music News

“Some guys can sing. Some guys can play guitar. Some guys can write songs. Some guys know their way around the recording studio. Then there are guys like Sam Weber. [He] can do it all” – Tinnitist

“Channels the raw simplicity of early John Hiatt and Bruce Springsteen, while maintaining the gentle emotive grip of acts like Bon Iver” – Arts Victoria

Bombay Bicycle Club are very pleased to announce details of their fifth album set for release in January 2020.

Everything Else Has Gone Wrong will be released on January 17 through Arts & Crafts in Canada. It is the eagerly anticipated follow-up to the British band’s acclaimed number 1 charting, Mercury Music Prize nominated fourth album, So Long, See You Tomorrow released back in 2014.

The new album was largely recorded out in the US alongside Grammy Award winning producer John Congleton (St. Vincent/Sharon Van Etten/War on Drugs). It features the band’s euphoric new single, “Eat, Sleep, Wake (Nothing But You)”, the visuals of which are shared today HERE. The video was directed by Louis Bhose, the band’s old touring keyboardist who has quickly become the go-to director for countless artists in recent years (Michael Kiwanuka & Tom Misch, Lewis Capaldi, Loyle Carner). It was shot out in Ukraine.

About the record’s title, the band said: “This is an album for anyone who’s ever turned to music in a time of crisis, whether personal or political. It’s about the solace one can get from listening to music or playing music when everything else has gone wrong. It’s about finding kernels of hope and renewal in dire situations.”

Bombay Bicycle Club have continued to grow, develop and evolve since the release of their debut album, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose, back in 2009 when they signalled their arrival as young teenagers. Rarely in recent years has there been a British guitar band who have the craft and ability to avoid categorisation whilst uniting hundreds of thousands of fans across the globe. With an innate ear for melody and invention, the four-piece are a very welcome return to the fold just as British guitar music makes a timely renaissance.

As previously announced, Bombay Bicycle Club will follow their recent live return at Wilderness Festival with a tour of the US in September and October, stopping in Toronto for a show at the Phoenix Concert Theatre on October 3. Full tour dates can be found below. The band will also perform handful of UK shows to celebrate ten years of their debut album, I Had The Blues But I Shook Them Loose. These shows, including a return to Brixton Academy, sold out in seconds. The band have just announced a major UK/Ireland headline tour to coincide with the album’s release that sees them returning to arenas including a London show at Alexandra Palace.

“Playing together again is such an unexpected surprise for the 4 of us and yet from the first moment we started rehearsing it felt as natural as if we’d played a show the night before.  We feel a freshness playing live and in the studio that I think can only come from having taken a step back and now we just want to play these new songs to as many people in as many countries as we can", says Jack.

YOKE LORE UNVEILS INDIE DANCE-FLOOR JAM “EVERYBODY WANTS TO BE LOVED” W/ NVUDES

NORTH AMERICAN TOUR DATES BEGIN SEP 28

“Adrian Galvin's solo act is a delicious mixture of folk, pop and electronic that constantly keeps listeners on their toes.” -  MTV

In the wake of his North American tour announce, Yoke Lore unveils track "Everybody Wants To Be Loved" with NVDES. Stepping away from the chill sound of his most recent Meditations EP, the single blends Adrian Galvin's idyllic vocals with an infectious beat for an irresistibly fun electronic jam that is sure to have you on your feet.

Speaking of the collaboration, indie sensation Yoke Lore states, "me and Josh (NVDES) run into each other in weird places. I’ve encountered him in random LA rooftops, Parisian cafes and German airports. Our collaboration is laced with some years of growth we’ve seen each other go through. I think the amount of time we took to let this song become a reality can be felt in its multifarious nature. It has a hectic drive that both makes you move and leaves you yearning. The song is about not being sure about your place in the romantic world. Do we have to play that game? And when we do who do we become? But if we don’t what do we miss? And all the changes we go through as we navigate those questions to build ourselves."

Josh of NVDES sums up the track with "'Everybody Wants To Be Loved' is about the angst of being human with the natural desire to share love in this volatile world."

After putting out three acclaimed EPs which gained Yoke Lore a loyal following— Far Shore (2016), Goodpain (2017), and Absolutes (2018) — 2019’s Meditations stripped several of Galvin’s familiar songs to their core by trading the usual electronic elements for arrangements of piano, horns, and strings. In addition to these re-interpretations, listeners found two new studio songs on the Meditations EP.  This fall Galvin is set to embark on his first national headlining tour heading across the country, playing premiere venues in cities such as Los Angeles, New York City, San Francisco and Chicago along the way.
