“Sparkling with production clarity at some moments and humbly gentle in others, Everything Comes True manages to create a nostalgic blend of country and Americana, riding through late nights towards West coast forests all the while.”-  Exclaim!

“[Weber] is an expert tunesmith, brimming with addictive, adventurous and confident pieces. Infused with deep wit and wisdom, Weber’s output is truly impressive. His guitar work is also killer, full of nuance, soul and a truly unique voice.… We’ll be hearing a lot more from Weber in the coming years and, more than likely, decades” – Guitar Player

“shows why he is being tipped as an artist to watch closely” – FYI Music News

“Some guys can sing. Some guys can play guitar. Some guys can write songs. Some guys know their way around the recording studio. Then there are guys like Sam Weber.
[He] can do it all” – Tinnitist

Acclaimed singer-songwriter and guitarist, Sam Weber is today sharing the new lyric video for big picture rock’n’roll single “Probably Not” taken from his third album, Everything Comes True, which was produced by LA-based Tyler Chester (player with Andrew Bird, Joan Baez, Jackson Browne).

Tipping hat to the sprawling guitar sounds of Bruce Springsteen, Alice Coltrane, and The Band, “Probably Not” pulls on buzzing riffs and a wanderlust swagger that places itself amidst the vast American landscape, sonically paying testament to the themes of the album. It’s a record well-versed in a road worn wisdom with Weber saying of the new single: “‘Probably Not’ is about driving through the night like one of those fish with the lantern on its head that lives in the deep ocean. You follow the road into the abyss and listen to the radio and thoughts pass through your mind as you drive, contemplating existence, overthinking everything.”

Alongside Weber’s own skill for storytelling and guitar playing, the new album finds the artist borrowing the skills of a heavyweight cast of session players including guitarist Dylan Day (Jenny Lewis), pedal steel player Rich Hinman (St Vincent, Cyndi Lauper) guitarist-vocalist, Adam Levy (Tracy Chapman, Norah Jones), trombonist Elizabeth Lea (Dirty Projectors, Vampire Weekend), and percussionist Justin Stanley (Prince, Beck, Paul McCartney) amongst a whole host of other names. The stellar roster is further cemented with the Grammy Award winning engineer, Gavin Lurssen.

Weber, who draws heavily from his experiences travelling across the North American continent, looks to build upon the foundations cast by his recent New Agile Freedom EP, as well as earlier LP releases, Shadows in the Road (2014) and Valentina Nevada (2016). Everything Comes True explores the psychological and physical excursions that come with touring heavily – lyrically and musically painting a vivid narrative of the emotional journeys that come with spending extensive stints away from home, as well as the stories that accumulate.

Today, multi-award-winning, platinum-selling singer-songwriter and environmental activist Sarah Harmer announces Spring Tour dates beginning March 24 with stops across Canada and the US. Each Canadian date will feature two full sets from Harmer. Full tour dates can be found below. Tickets are on sale Friday, December 6 at sarahharmer.com.

On February 21, 2020, Harmer will release Are You Gone, her first album in a decade, via Arts & Crafts. A deeply personal and political collection of songs motivated by the beauty of life, the urgency of the climate crisis, and the question of loss, Sarah called the album a spiritual successor of sorts to her acclaimed 2000 debut, You Were Here, which made many year-end critics’ lists, and which TIME called the year’s best debut album. Its simple title, Are You Gone, is a meditation on the idea of presence, and a bookend to the questions posed on You Were Here - a sharpened, more electric confrontation with the realities of nature and human nature.

The result of an unshakeable inclination to make music in conflict with a lifestyle more attuned to privacy, quiet, and activism, Sarah wrote Are You Gone gradually over the last decade as she traded music for grassroots organizing as her “day job.” Between co-founding the citizen’s organization PERL (Protecting Escarpment Rural Land) and leading the coalition’s successful efforts to prevent a quarry from being built on the Niagara Escarpment, she became a fixture in local politics and advocacy, while keeping her musical chops fresh by writing and playing casually with friends. Finally, in 2019, while pondering the “ghosts” of loss, capitalism’s gluttony and music’s potential as a public platform, Sarah got to work on Are You Gone, her most sophisticated record to date.

Encompassing a stylistic range from barebones folk to layered indie rock, album opener “St. Peter’s Bay” blends melancholic vocals and smooth atmospherics to effectively conjure the feeling of standing at dusk overlooking an endless sea, while “Take Me Out” is a modern, punchy alt-rock take on the near impossibility of letting go. “What I Was to You” is a tribute to Harmer’s lifelong friend Gord Downie of the Tragically Hip, and psychedelic-tinged piano ballad “The Lookout” tackles the angst of love-across-timezones. Penultimate track “Shoemaker”, about Sarah discovering an old book and census of her great great Glaswegian grandfather, calls to mind the gently ominous, slowly shifting chords of Sparklehorse before transforming into a gorgeous, almost-crescendoing show of Sarah’s vocal range. “See Her Wave” wraps the album with an acoustic goodbye written in memoriam to another friend who moved on.

Sarah has performed on The Late Show with David Letterman, Ellen, has been nominated for the Polaris Music Prize, garnered nine JUNO Award nominations and two wins, and been widely praised for her “razor-sharp songwriting chops” (NPR Music) and “plainly hooky” melodic sensibility (Rolling Stone).

Arts & Crafts has also announced that it is reissuing Sarah Harmer’s entire vinyl discography, including first-time vinyl editions of Songs For Clem, You Were Here, All of Our Names, and I’m A Mountain, and the first reprint of Oh Little Fire. All titles including Are You Gone are available for pre-order now.

Mister Nobu is the solo project of Nobu Adilman, co-founder/director of Toronto's Choir! Choir! Choir!. The twelve songs on TAVIE indelibly mark the emotional highs and lows of a perfect relationship running out of time. The range is unapologetically diverse but slides comfortably under Indie Pop, celebrating melody, harmony, and unironic emotionality. There are ballads, there are dancers, and, in one case, a popified cover of “Deep In A Dream”, the 1938 slow jam made famous by Chet + Sinatra.

Some have said they hear traces of Lennon, others McCartney, perhaps some Dennis Wilson, maybe some Judee Sill and Sibylle Baier, but here's hoping for .01% of Frank Ocean.

TAVIE was produced by Rob Benvie (Thrush Hermit/Bankruptcy), and mixed by Byron Kent Wong, mastered by Noah Mintz at Lacquer Channel Mastering. Mister Nobu is joined by many friends including Benvie, Mike Belitsky (The Sadies), Matt Murphy (The Super Friendz/Flashing Lights/TUNS), Moshe Fisher Rozenberg (Absolutely Free), members of Choir! Choir! Choir!, and Danielle Duval, with string arrangements by Chris A. Cummings (Marker Starling) + Benvie.

Nobu Adilman is one of the two founding members of Choir! Choir! Choir!, the international phenomenon that has collaborated with David Byrne, Patti Smith (twice!), Stewart Copeland, Rufus Wainwright, Brandi Carlile, and more. They’ve wracked up millions of views on YouTube, sung for Lionel Richie on American Idol, been the subject of a half-hour PBS All Arts special for their 2019 performance at the 9/11 Memorial & Museum, and performed at Carnegie Hall and Radio City Music Hall. Even Rick Astley dropped by their Toronto weekly to RickRoll a sold-out crowd! And, most recently, held a gig at the border between Mexico and the US, with Nobu leading a group of singers from a stage in Tijuana, and his partner, on the other side of the wall, in San Diego.

Never one to sit idle, Nobu’s documentary film SHORT ROUND UP premiered at the Edinburgh International Film Festival earlier this summer. The film follows Nobu’s search for the Asian men who, like him, auditioned to be “Short Round” in Indiana Jones And The Temple of Doom, their first shot at becoming Hollywood Stars. Nobu has also appeared as a series regular in the cult-hit TV show and films Trailer Park Boys, co-created and starred in forty episodes of the gonzo cooking/gadget creation show Food Jammers seen on the Food Network and Cooking Channel, and travelled in the US in a short-bus powered by vegetable oil meeting innovators of green science for Invention Nation on Discovery Science USA

Nobu started out as a writer on Canadian episodic television (Emily of New Moon, Cold Squad), and then co-hosted, with his brother, a couple of national Canadian TV shows (Smart Ask!, ZeD), and acted as a pop culture reporter (>Play). In the late 90s he co-founded and played in the Halifax rock band Rick Of The Skins (ROTS), and in the early 2000s he released his first solo album as Mister Nobu titled C’mon Wid Your C’mon.

Due out this Spring via Arts & Crafts, TAVIE is available to pre-order today on vinyl and digital download.
