Today, Living Hour and The Ophelias are sharing the new single, “Hard To Say Goodnight”. The song marks the first collaboration between Living Hour and The Ophelias who met at SXSW 2023 and quickly became friends and fans of each other's music. The song paves the way for both bands to head out on tour together through the midwest USA this month.

"Hard to Say Goodnight" is a retro inspired love song which mixes sensibilities from indie-folk, hollowed out dream pop, and lo-fi country. With swirling strings, vocal layers and harmonies, and druggy distorted keyboard the song floats in a heavenly beauty while repeating catchy vocal hooks throughout. The flutes and violin introduce a triumphant element to the song and the mixing by Rick Spataro (Florist) adds a diy art-pop texture to the production.

MORE ABOUT LIVING HOUR
Living Hour is an indie rock band from Winnipeg, MB. Their sound is distinguished by lead singer Sam Sarty's emotive vocals, a dreamy sonic palette, and creative instrumental melodies.

Living Hour sound grows to warm and earthy new perimeters on their latest album Someday Is Today with lush and generous instrumentation. The songs on Someday Is Today feel bound by something bigger than themselves; an energy that flourished in spite of it all, a human connection that grips just strongly enough even when pushed to its frayed, unreachable extremes.

MORE ABOUT THE OPHELIAS
The Ophelias are a band inspired by nostalgia, nature, the Midwest, horror movies, and the moon. They formed in Cincinnati, Ohio in 2015 when Spencer Peppet (she/her) was a senior in high school. She recruited Mic Adams (he/him) on drums and Andrea Gutmann Fuentes (she/her) on violin, and Jo Shaffer (they/she) joined on bass a few years later. They released their first album Creature Native in 2015, recorded in a friend’s living room. They signed to Joyful Noise Recordings for their next albums: 2018’s Almost and 2021’s Crocus, which both received praise from The New York Times, Pitchfork, Stereogum, and other major outlets. In that time they collaborated with Julien Baker, played with bands like Indigo de Souza, Hand Habits, Mannequin Pussy, and comedian Cat Cohen, and played festivals like SXSW, Treefort, and Nelsonville. The Ophelias are a joyfully queer band with predominantly queer and trans members, and they take pride both in their identities and vocally supporting queer & trans rights.

Currently on the road across Canada, Terra Lightfoot is already celebrating this week’s release of her new album, Healing Power, with audiences in Western Canada. Full tour dates can be found below with more Canadian dates coming in December. With only a few more days remaining before the LP is available everywhere, the celebrated songwriter and guitarist is sharing another single from her Gus van Go produced record, “Come Back Around”.

This one came out in the Ontario Place parking lot on the shores of Lake Ontario, on the same day as ‘Need You Tonight’, says Lightfoot. “I think the intention of doing the right thing doesn’t always work out the way we want it to. For me, the biggest takeaway from this song is that it’s helpful to know that you can always get back up after you make a mistake. The lesson you were supposed to learn will still be there waiting for you until you’re ready to try again.”

Healing Power Lightfoot showcases her considerable clout as a pop songsmith, delivering a dozen stunning tracks that together represent a career high. “There was a sense of freedom, both personally and creatively, that struck me while I was writing this record,” Lightfoot says. “Once I got back into the studio with Gus, having already made two records with him, there was an undeniable comfort and workflow that we just fell into. We are super-productive together in the studio. I also seem to get my best vocal takes with Gus behind the board. We built this record pretty quickly together with the band on call whenever we needed them.”

The album delivers the peerless pop-rock album that fans have long known that she always had in her. The set captures the crackling chemistry of the core live trio — most of the album finds Lightfoot backed by bassist Elijah Abrams and Blue Rodeo’s Glenn Milchem on drums. This compact and capable team of players reinforces the strengths of Lightfoot's remarkable material. From hand-clapping head-turner “Cross Border Lovers” through the cinematic ballad “Out Of Time” that closes it, Lightfoot’s artistic range is again on full display, and her musical talents never short of dazzling. A buoyant pop-rock record at its core, Healing Power is a prismatic tour de force from the charismatic rocker.

MORE ABOUT TERRA LIGHTFOOT
The infectious single is only the latest in what fans will agree has been a remarkable career. And to describe her decade-plus musical evolution as astonishing is something of an understatement. Along the way, Lightfoot's marathon tours have touched down in eight countries across four continents (including support slots for Bruce Cockburn, Blue Rodeo, Toad the Wet Sprocket, The Posies, The Sheepdogs, and Willie Nelson). She also conceived, created, curated, produced and co-headlined The Longest Road Show, an all-female touring revue. In October 2020, Lightfoot released Consider the Speed, recorded by Grammy Award winning producer Jay Newland at Memphis' legendary Royal Studios. In early 2022, Lightfoot launched her own label, Midnight Choir, with a cover of Leadbelly’s “Where Did you Sleep Last Night?” and fan-favourite original composition, “Sleepyhead”, covered by Sarah Blackwood of Walk Off The Earth.

KROY SHARES NEW SINGLE / VIDEO FOR “DEFENDER”

JUNO AWARD WINNER AND TWO-TIME POLARIS-LONGLISTER FROM MILK & BONE, SHARES NEW SINGLE, “DEFENDER”, OUT VIA LIGHTER THAN AIR

KROY is the stage name of singer, songwriter and composer Camille Poliquin. Her deeply personal approach to music and her bold pop explorations have seen her accumulate millions of streams. KROY has been described as a visionary artist and Montreal’s queen of electropop, and is known for her soaring voice, synth-pop melodies and brooding lyrics.

Today, she’s sharing her first new single, “DEFENDER”, which arrives with a video from director Adrian Villagomez. “I knew I wanted to write about the DEFENDER,” says Poliquin. “It being my favourite car definitely has a lot to do with it, but the imagery around the name of the car is also very inspiring to me. The idea of being at the wheel of such a powerful beast, both being protected by it, but also controlling its movements brings me feelings of power and independence.

“Feeling vulnerable and fragile most of the time, I feel like I need to have someone who will take charge and figuratively protect me from the outside world. But, I do love when the balance shifts and I am back in the driver seat, taking the role of the protector.

“Being with someone you trust so much and you are so compatible with that your chaos just matches up. When you’re feeling uneasy and need reassurance you can both show up for each other, but become partners in a heist if the desire occurs.”

MORE ABOUT KROY
Camille Poliquin released her first songs under the alias KROY in 2014 and was quickly dubbed the next Montreal indie pop sensation. A year later, she began to create music with Laurence Lafond-Beaune, forming the minimalist electro-pop duo Milk & Bone, and together they spawned two critically acclaimed albums and one EP: Little Mourning (2015), Deception Bay (2018) and DIVE (2019).

In the fall of 2016, KROY released her debut solo album SCAVENGER. With hypnotic electro rhythms and lyrics dominated by stories of impossible love, the album draws inspiration from spacey trip-hop and inventive modern pop. SCAVENGER’s whirlwind of synths has garnered praise from the likes of Rolling Stone, Nylon, FADER, Complex, Noisey and more. Reflecting KROY's polished black-and-white imagery, the cover won a prize at the 2017 Grafika Awards. The album’s success has also allowed KROY to perform throughout Canada and abroad, including New York and Paris, Le Printemps de Bourges, Austin (SXSW), Hamburg (The Reeperbahn) and Montreal (Osheaga). In 2020, the musician collaborated with prolific Belgium-born producer Apashe on the single “Rain”.

To express her forward and varied interests, Camille likes to say that, much like Seinfeld’s George Costanza, she could’ve become a marine biologist or an architect had she not turned her attention to music. On top of the success of KROY and Milk & Bone, the musician, who completed studies in orchestral composition, has crafted music for two Cirque du Soleil shows and several feature films with Laurence Lafond-Beaune, including the theme song for King Dave for which the pair earned a nomination at the 2017 Canadian Screen Awards. Camille has also written the original music for the 2019 documentary Sisterhood, and KROY songs have been selected to create the right feeling in key scenes of multiple major international TV shows. Throughout her career, Camille has won a JUNO Award (2019), a Félix Award (2019), and has been twice long-listed for the Polaris Music Prize (2015 and 2018).

After a long wait and relentless requests from her fans, KROY returns to unveil the fruits of her lyrical and musical explorations in a new album to be released in 2021. The musician’s new work features dark pop melodies inspired by love, death, robots, space and the deep ocean.
