His His is the recording project of Toronto-based artist Aidan Belo, combining elements of Greenwich Village-inspired folk and contemporary indie folk, coupled with low-fidelity analog production which creates something that sounds honest and melancholic. Today, Belo announces the release of ‘25, a four song EP recorded in the empty space of an old wood barn on his family’s farm which has been temporarily converted into a makeshift studio, where everything is recorded entirely to 1⁄4” tape and cassette.

“The songs came together quickly, mostly late at night, and feel like small sketches of where my head’s been lately,” says Belo. Today he shares the first two singles from the EP. “Hardcore Band” riffs on “the expectations of friends who wish the music was heavier, delivered with a shrug and a smile. It’s half joke, half truth.” The other track, “Radio (demo)” is the “oldest of the four, something I found on an old tape and reworked a bit. I left it messy on purpose.”

MORE ABOUT ‘25 EP
Of the EP, Belo says “There’s a kind of humor running through these songs, but I didn’t want to lean too hard on that. A kind of self-aware sincerity, not quite serious, but never throwaway. If there’s a theme, it’s probably about not trying too hard - letting things be what they are, and seeing if that’s enough.”

“Crodie Submission” was written after “a friend of mine got mugged downtown one night (he’s fine). The title is kind of a nod to Toronto, where we both live - a weird, but ultimately great place.” The EP’s final track, “Eatsleepraverepeat” is more internal, more circular. “It’s about that feeling of being stuck in a loop, watching yourself go through the motions. Slightly annoyed that I couldn’t get a ride with my friend to Dufferin Mall and writing in my notes app while taking the heavily underserviced Dufferin Bus, (shoutout route 29, but c’mon TTC do better) was where this song started.”

Today, Terra Lightfoot is sharing another new single from her upcoming album, Home Front, out October 17, 2025 via Midnight Choir / Sonic Unyon, which was recorded “in the living room, on the back porch, in the relaxing moments after dinner or the late evening, when the crickets and peepers were singing their loudest,” of Lightfoot’s scenic home in Ontario’s Haliburton Highlands.

“Already There In My Mind” is “my favorite song on the record,” says Lightfoot. “We were about to leave for a trip, and the night before we left, at the last minute, my partner Jon and I decided to cut a take of this one…we pulled out my childhood piano from the living room wall after dinner, and tracked the vocal and piano at the same time. It was sort of a whirlwind as we recorded it, and then we left it alone while we visited Jon’s family abroad. We came back a couple weeks later to what I think is one of the best tracks on the record. This song was written on my childhood piano, too. I think I must have been fed up about one thing or another, and it was all about surrendering to possibility, no matter what’s going on in your life.”

MORE ABOUT TERRA LIGHTFOOT + HOME FRONT
Seasoned rocker Terra Lightfoot has a well-earned reputation as a tireless live performer, with a tour history mapped across the globe and awards testifying to every mile logged along the way. To date, Lightfoot's marathon tours have touched down in eight countries across four continents. She also conceived, created, curated, produced and co-headlined The Longest Road Show, an all-female touring revue.

Most fans would reasonably assume that the singer-songwriter’s natural element is in the spotlight. But even accomplished touring artists like Lightfoot feel the insistent tug of home. That place, which for Lightfoot is a scenic hideaway, is captured in warm detail on the artist’s intimate new album, Home Front. In stark contrast to the anthemic alt-pop riffs of 2017’s New Mistakes and 2023’s Healing Power (each of which earned the artist JUNO Award nominations and Polaris Music Prize long list nods), this is an unplugged session in more ways than one.

“This house is a special place,” explains Lightfoot. “It sits all by itself between woods and streams that go on for acres and acres and a beautiful wetland teeming with wildlife. I find myself living more comfortably in my own bones than ever before when I’m here. There is a deep quiet here, in the house that backs onto the beaver marsh. Blue herons fly, and moose and bears walk the forest path out back. It is a place where I can’t help but be more connected to the natural world. Being so engrossed in the world of loud rock ’n’ roll guitar doesn’t leave a lot of space for field recording or softly strummed nylon strings. Home Front is the place where I can share all those softer and sweeter moments.”

“Welcoming Vancouver-based singer Michaela Slinger onto the track for an old-fashioned duet, the two sing about heartbreak and reconciliation while pushing through the toughest of times and coming out strong on the other end.The two soft-spoken vocalists prove to be a great match for each other, blending their tones together as they tentatively venture requests to start taking the slow steps to fully opening back up emotionally.” RANGE on “Wide Open”

“Wide Open" has a classic country feel reinforced by haunting pedal steel and the harmony singing of Vancouver’s Michaela Slinger, who co-wrote the tune with Lam in Nashville. Lyrically it digs deep, probing a challenging time in a relationship and the warm and poignant vocals of Lam deliver the message skillfully.” Billboard on “Wide Open”

Fresh off a nomination for three Nova Scotia Music Awards (Folk/Roots Recording of the Year, Music Video of the Year, Entertainer of the Year), today Braden Lam is sharing the live version of “Hurricane Season” from his debut album, The Cloudmaker’s Cry. Earlier this year, Lam was named of eight semi-finalists in SiriusXM's 2025 'Top of the Country' where he recorded the live version. “This was my favourite day, they flew us out to record Hurricane Season live off the floor at Bryan Adams' The Warehouse Studio in Vancouver,” says Lam. “There was hair and makeup, video crew, audio engineers flying around, catering, interviews... just a big fun energy in the room. The band and I were fresh off some Spring tour dates and it was the perfect storm (pun intended) of being so prepared and in such good hands with the crew. I'm super proud of this performance, it's too good not to share as a proper release on my own.”

MORE ABOUT THE CLOUDMAKER’S CRY
The Cloudmaker’s Cry is Lam’s debut full-length album, and he means album in the classic sense: 10 considered and thoughtful folk songs, meticulously arranged and painstakingly sequenced, meant to be played on a turntable in a single sitting, whiskey optional. Though barely 27, he has lived the life of a much older man—with years of touring, entrepreneurship, and marriage already accounted for—and this collection of songs reflects lessons learned earlier than most, about time and love and the world.

It was produced in Toronto by Eli Browning, a new approach for Lam, who made his previous three EPs with a host of producers across Atlantic Canada. The pair’s touchstones as they worked through a city springtime in a converted church studio were George Harrison, Neil Young, and other sounds from the 1960s and 70s: music that is lyric-forward and performed with folk instrumentation in analogue tones, resulting in a timeless singer-songwriter record.

This vibe carries through the entire package, from the tintype photographs of Lam to the images wrought in 35mm in the liner notes, to his charming video collaborations with Griffin O’Toole that combine nostalgia, surrealism, and camp into a distinct style of film. Each particular piece fits perfectly into the primary vision, creating something grand in its authenticity and comforting in its warmth.

The album features singles, “Beautiful Neighbourhoods”, which climbed to #7 on the CBC Music Top 20, “Highway Jesus”, “Hurricane Season”, and “Wide Open”, a duet with Vancouver’s Michaela Slinger. Lam was also named as one of 8 semi-finalists in SiriusXM’s 2025 ‘Top of the Country’
