Singer-songwriter, film composer and pianist Patrick Watson has released Uh Oh, a deeply personal 11-track collection that investigates the idea of life as being a series of “uh ohs”: a little phrase uttered in response to everything from childhood accidents to our most overwhelming anxieties. The songs on this album were written during a period where Watson was experiencing his own career-threatening “uh oh” - he’d lost his voice. Unsure if he would ever sing again, he composed the album as a collection of collaborations with friends and strangers who would sing his songs when he couldn’t. It’s the culmination of 20 years of musical exploration, and a showcase for the unique cinematic textures that have brought Watson immense acclaim and billions of streams over his celebrated career. The album has been met with praise, including 4-star reviews in MOJO and Record Collector, coverage from NPR Music, UNCUT, France Inter, Le Parisien, Le Figaro, La Matinale sur France Info, Rolling Stone Germany, BBC 6 Music, and beyond. Watson is kicking off his tour on October 28, with some of the largest venues of his career, and recently announced new tour dates. Tickets are available to purchase here.

The history-making Je te laisserai des mots - is the first French-language song to surpass 1 billion streams on Spotify and gained significant traction over the years.  It has amassed enough streams to hit platinum-level in 29 countries, and gold-level thresholds in 34 countries. The song has been instrumental in expanding the reach and resonance of Francophone music worldwide, with non-French speakers performing their own versions (check it out HERE) and finding comfort in it during challenging times. Watson shared more details about the "hit" in The Guardian recently, and the track was also just featured in the season finale of the hit Amazon TV series The Summer I Turned Pretty, which aired on September 17.

Most of the songs on Uh Oh see Watson and his long-time bandmates, collaborator and multi-instrumentalist Mishka Stein, Olivier Fairfield, and co-vocalist Ariel Engle (La Force) joined by a guest singer. The featured vocalists range from the iconic voices he’s idolized for years – Martha Wainwright – to ones he discovered through Instagram scrolling like Solann and local Quebec favorite Klô Pelgag, and include international phenoms MARO, Hohnen Ford, November Ultra, JUNO Award winner Charlotte Cardin, Félix award winner Anachnid, and a friend he met when she worked the counter at this local coffee shop, Charlotte Oleena. “Every singer has these different magical powers on this record, and each song kind of represents that,” Watson says.

Watson utilized a minimalist approach when tracking the new album, recording in locations around the world (Montreal, New Orleans, L.A., Mexico City, Paris) and cutting takes with only 2 microphones. Seeking to capture the power of the moment, he limited each track to 1-2 takes in order to achieve spontaneity with his guests. This approach is demonstrated by the haunting, ethereal qualities of many of these tracks, and Watson even studied the low-end and hi-hat mix on Cardi B’s “Up” to get the album’s sound just right.

Today, trailblazing electronic pop duo Purity Ring release their sonically expansive self-titled album. Alongside the album release, the duo premiere an official music video for track “the long night”, which serves as a preview of the awe-inspiring visuals to be expected on the Place Of My Own tour.

Purity Ring’s self-titled fourth album marks the beginning of a bold new chapter as the band’s most immersive release to date. Long known for their fusion of body horror imagery and ethereal electronics, the duo now shift their focus from the physical to the fantastical, crafting a concept album that serves as the soundtrack to an imagined RPG. Inspired by games like Nier Automata and Final Fantasy X, the record tells the story of two hapless characters — embodiments of mj and Corin — on a journey to build a kinder world amid the ruins of a broken one. But this is no escapist fantasy: it is the first step of forbidden dreaming, of imagining a place where the vulnerable are heeded, where grief is spoken aloud and held collectively, where family is a verb rather than a noun, where hope and home can bloom together.

purity ring is the most expansive the duo has ever sounded. Corin reaches into his deepest musical memories to sculpt euphoric, otherworldly soundscapes of vintage digital synths, classical guitar, pan flutes, breakbeats, and haunted vocoders. Along with her unmistakable presence, mj has unlocked a new arsenal of vocal deliveries and a joyous, dizzying stream of consciousness in her words. When a loved one became newly disabled, mj became a full-time caregiver, an experience that continues to expose the world's inadequacies and fuels her vision of a better one.

“the long night” pulls us into the pulse of a steady heartbeat that comforts us through a storm. words ring out as though from another plane: “I’ve been blacking out but I will come back changed.” An ominous promise hangs over corroded 2000s trance synths like a prophecy. “Play my dreams for omens.” If only all dreams were so darkly euphoric. The official music video, directed by Grant Spanier, gives viewers a kaleidoscopic taste of the upcoming tour. The shows will feature visuals that transform the stage into a surreal, otherworldly landscape where light and sound intertwine.

As always, the band’s visuals feel deeply seeded in the sound of the record. For this release, they’ve collaborated with fellow Canadian Mike Sunday to develop an imaginary place — one shaped by many of the same inspirations that influenced Corin’s production along with the narrative of mj’s poetry. Together with Sunday, they’ve crafted a sensory landscape that visually brings the album’s story to life. Purity Ring's new live show is also built on this surreal landscape, immersing fans in this world alongside them.

On their fourth album Purity Ring, the Canadian duo explore creative frontiers that are brand new to them yet profoundly self-actualizing. This is a record about letting go, embracing change, and dreaming forward into something freer.

Purity Ring’s upcoming tour is set to deliver their ethereal concert experience to stages across North America. Tickets can be purchased for the ‘Place Of My Own’ tour via Seated HERE.

Purity Ring released their first three albums on the legendary label 4AD, beginning with Shrines, which earned Pitchfork’s Best New Music honors and was shortlisted for the Polaris Music Prize. Their breakout track “Fineshrine” is certified gold in the US, and “Grandloves” was sampled by Playboi Carti on his Die Lit track “Fell In Love.” In recent years, they remixed “Knife Prty” as the lead single for the 20th anniversary reissue of Deftones’ classic album White Pony and collaborated with industrial pop duo Black Dresses on the track “Shines.”

Since emerging in the early 2010s, Corin and mj have made a lasting impact on the electronic pop landscape, building a world all their own with immersive self-produced albums and designing groundbreaking visual live show experiences. Their next era of self-released music promises to step fully into a vision they’ve been circling for years - one that feels vast, unrestrained, and true to who they’ve become.

KATIE TUPPER SHARES HAZY NEW SINGLE, “TENNESSEE HEAT”

“Katie Tupper's voice always greets listeners like the most tender dream, one you want to stay in forever. The dulcet tones of "Need Nothing" are a balm and Tupper is at her best when she's leaning into sweetness. "I'll be here for what it's worth," she states, affirming her love.” - CBC Music

“Saskatchewan's Katie Tupper makes the kind of soul-stained folk that feels instantly familiar, but it's her complex writing — vividly capturing the sights and smells of her home province, like the "fields of butter" on "How Can I Get Your Love?" — that makes her debut EP so anticipated, further calcifying the singer/songwriter's distinct and subtle touch.“ Exclaim!

"[Katie Tupper] strikes a narrow balance between the vivid romanticism of soul and the hushed confessions of a folk singer/songwriter." - Under The Radar Magazine

"Katie Tupper pairs hard truths with soft sounds." - FLOOD Magazine

With multiple viral videos on both Reels and TikTok, Tupper now has a captive audience in love with her voice. "Tennessee Heat" meets this audience; it's a hazy and sexy representation of summer connection. Says Katie, "This captures what coming of age and falling in love in Saskatchewan felt like for me." Vivid and all-encompassing, "Tennessee Heat" is a final ode to the dog days of summer.

MORE ABOUT KATIE TUPPER
Beneath the painted hues and infinite prairie skies of Saskatoon – a city in the heart of Canada – lies a soulful, creative spirit that proves there’s much more to the so-called ‘fly-over states’ than grassland and grain silos. Katie Tupper, an indie R&B musician, embodies that spirit and is determined to show there’s an entire world of boundary-pushing music at work within the often overlooked region. Tupper's two EPs of heartland soul - 2022's Towards The End, and 2023's Where To Find Me - have amassed 22 million streams world wide, a JUNO Award nomination (2024 Traditional R&B-Soul Recording of the Year), the praise of tastemakers like Zane Lowe, a CBC Q interview with Tom Power, and international radio spins from BBC 6Music (UK), FIP (France), and CBC (Canada). In 2025, she’s been selected as Apple Canada’s “Up Next Artist” and Spotify Canada’s RADAR Artist of the Month and she’s even had Elton John spin her songs on his Apple Music Radio Show, Rocket Man. She’s now heading into the release of her debut full-length album, out in 2026 via Arts & Crafts.
