Having already shared singles “Then There’s You” and “Mosaic In The Sun”, Montreal-based songwriter Edwin Raphael returns with another new track from his upcoming album, I Know A Garden. Featuring UK based artist Jordan Mackampa, "A Sunbeam Lent To Us Briefly” finds “me and Jordan standing on the cliffs of the island where time drifts like mist over the waves, reflecting on how every moment, every love, every passing joy, is lent to us, not kept,” says Raphael. “The song hums with a quiet helplessness, the kind that comes from realizing that beauty and loss are intertwined."

MORE ABOUT EDWIN RAPHAEL
With roots in Kerala, India, Raphael studied classical guitar before deciding on the keys. As he developed an affinity for John Mayer and Ben Howard, he felt at odds with a distinct sense of “placelessness”. It wasn’t until he moved to Montreal to pursue a business degree that he felt a sense of stability, and became deeply entangled with the city’s indie bedroom pop scene.

His debut EP Ocean’s Walk (2015) paired stirring, melancholic instrumentals with a fierce self-reckoning. It would set the stage for a string of releases that would dive deeper into the psyche; like confronting the aftershocks following a significant heartbreak, or relearning your emotional baseline as you mature. Subsequent releases, Cold Nights (2017)Will You Think of Me Later? (2019), and its follow up Staring at Ceilings (2021), reveal an artist devoted to sharpening his ability to translate his experiences into ubiquitous statements.

The 2024 re-release of Will You Think of Me Later? has amassed 115 million streams on Spotify. Edwin has performed over 70 shows across 14 countries since 2023, sharing the stage alongside Palace, Hollow Coves, Noah Kahan, and more. He heads out on tour throughout Quebec beginning March 27 and a U.K. and European tour commences May 14  All dates are below.

LARKK, THE PROJECT OF DANIELLE MCTAGGART (DEAR ROUGE), ANNOUNCE NEW LP, SHARES “DEVASTATION’S BLISS”

Danielle McTaggart is an artist in transformation. Best known as the powerhouse voice behind the JUNO Award-winning duo Dear Rouge, she has spent years captivating audiences with electrifying performances and chart-topping hits. Now, Danielle McTaggart has stepped forward as Larkk — a transformation that embraces intimacy and introspection, trading the high-energy pulse of indie rock for raw, poetic vulnerability.

After the debut single “Caverns” and the most recent offering “First Kiss”, McTaggart is preparing to announce the February 13, 2026 arrival of Larkk’s debut album Cinders alongside the release of new single “Devastation’s Bliss”. An emotional breaking point on Larkk’s journey, “Devastation’s Bliss” explores suffering, healing, and the treasures found in grief. With ambient textures and swelling orchestral moments, it’s a raw, intimate meditation on pain as transformation. Think Patrick Watson meets Agnes Obel in a moment of spiritual surrender.

For Larkk, this music exists in the space between the past and the future - an evolution of both sound and spirit. It’s more than a new chapter; it’s the creation of an entirely new language of storytelling. Larkk weaves together music, movement, painting, poetry, and expansive artistic expression — each element intertwining to capture the beauty and ache of being human. It’s a deeply immersive world where emotion drives form, and vulnerability becomes a powerful source of connection.

MOONRIIVR creates a sound that is both familiar and cosmic. Drawing on their connection to the past in the search for a new vibration. Today, the duo of Gavin Gardner and James Robertson, return with their first new music since the release of the 2023 debut album, Volume 1. Released via Victory Pool Records, for “You Get Me By” they were joined by the percussive genius of Lyle Molzan, Mike Ardagh, and Julian Psihogios as well as Jenni Roberts and Ben Whiteley on bass. The accomplished rhythm sections set the stage for Gardiner’s deft lyricism and haunting baritone while Robertson’s masterful guitar playing expands the mind with its trance-like searching. There’s a sense of restraint that congers the raw feelings of Richie Valens and Nancy Sinatra echoing off the hallowed walls of Capitol Studio B, while continuing to propel it into a new and bold era.

“You Get Me By” is “an attempt to hold up a mirror and offer the same empathy to myself that I would offer a friend navigating the challenges of self and identity,” says Gardner. “My mind creates boundaries for who I think others expect me to be, when hopefully they just want me to be free.”

MORE ABOUT MOONRIIVR
Seated at one of five tables inside their beloved lunch spot in Toronto’s west end, James Robertson and Gavin Gardiner are beaming. Everyone here shares the look, it’s an “if you know you know” kind of spot, and everyone here knows. It’s this feeling, this culture, this heart-and-soul-of-our-city energy that MOONRIIVR has embraced since their formation in 2023.

The universe did not have to reach far to pull together the orbits of James Robinson and Gavin Gardiner, the core of what would become MOONRIIVR. Each has played an integral and vibrant role in the Toronto music scene for the past two decades, and their range of styles, community and skills have come together in an easy and tape-echo filled fit.

Gardiner’s background in vintage and analogue recording paired with James Robertson’s passion for instruments of the same era come together to define MOONRIIVR’s sound. Gavin Gardiner, of JUNO Award and Polaris Music Prize nominated indie-folk outfit The Wooden Sky and established audio engineer at All Day Coconut (Georgia Harmer, Fiver, Dan Mangan, Jason Collet), was a quick match for Robertson, whose musical collaborations with Lindi Ortega and Dwayne Gretzky have redefined the sound of the Canadian music scene.

The 2023 release of their debut album, MOONRIIVR - Volume 1 quickly garnered critical acclaim and put the band on stages across Canada, the UK and Europe. Rolling Stone Magazine saying it’s “as if Buddy Holly and Chris Isaak made a record with Damien Jurado”

Unable to contain the vision found in their collaboration, MOONRIIVR has expanded their work as a production duo. Digging in and exploring new sonic territory with artists like Peter Dreams (July Talk), Reuben Bullock (Rebun and the Dark), Brandon Wolfe Scott (Yukon Blonde) and Tom Wilson (Junkhouse, Blackie and the Rodeo Kings).
