Fresh off the announcement of his upcoming album, Bannatyne, Ariel Posen is revealing the dates of his upcoming Canadian tour. Beginning in May, the celebrated songwriter and guitarist will take the new EP on a string of dates in Ontario and Quebec. Full dates listed below.

Alongside the album announcement the celebrated artist shared the new single “Empty-Handed” featuring City and Colour’s Dallas Green. Posen wrote this song and immediately heard Dallas Green’s voice on the choruses after he recorded it in the studio. Luckily for him, he called Dallas and he obliged. It was almost as if the song was written for Dallas to sing on it alongside Posen.

“Ariel and I have been pals for a while now and I've always been impressed with his extraordinary guitar playing,” shares Green. “But the truth is he's got a great sense of melody in his songwriting as well. This song was stuck in my head the second I heard it. It was a pleasure to be a part of such a banger.”

For Posen, songwriting and guitar playing have always gone hand-in-hand. He's spent a decade building a bridge between those two worlds, balancing his work as a hotshot instrumentalist — including collaborations with everyone from John Mayer to Tom Jones — with solo albums rooted in melody and autobiographical storytelling. The result is a career that's every bit as diverse as his music. With performances at Eric Clapton's Crossroads Guitar Festival, his own Fender Stratocaster signature model, and a powerful voice that matches his fretwork, Posen explores uncharted territory, blurring the lines between genre and generation along the way.

On his upcoming album, Bannatyne, that exploration leads Posen back to the place where everything began. Named after an avenue in his hometown of Winnipeg, Manitoba, it's a record about reexamining one's past in order to fully appreciate the present. Woven into the album's 12 songs are larger-than-life riffs and upbeat tempos (a nod to the 1990s rock music that soundtracked Posen's childhood), along with the syncopated grooves and explorative, unexpected textures that have always steered his work. Equally influenced by the raw energy of his live shows, where Posen has been known to plug in and stretch out showcasing the chops that prompted Rolling Stone to call him "a modern-day guitar hero", and the tight craft of his songwriting, Bannatyne is a full-circle snapshot of an artist in evolution, chasing down new horizons while still honouring his musical roots.

"This is an album about coming home," says Posen, who played guitar for hometown pals, The Bros. Landreth — earning a JUNO Award along the way — before launching his solo career with the critically-celebrated debut How Long. "It's about looking back and appreciating where you come from, even as you're heading somewhere new."

"Heading somewhere new" has been Posen's focus for years, ever since How Long introduced his blend of soulful Rock & Roll, R&B, and amplified Americana in 2019. Follow-up releases like Headway and Reasons Why widened that sound considerably, while the Mile End project — a trio of records filled with improvised guitar instrumentals — highlighted a different form of expression. Bannatyne covers new ground, too. There are appearances by fellow Canadians Dallas Green and Kathleen Edwards (who shares vocal duties with Posen on the sparse, slow-burning love song "More Me With You"). There are seize-the-day anthems like "Future Present Tense", punctuated by layered harmonies and bursts of fuzz guitar. There are alternate guitar tunings, smoothly-sung vocals, and lyrics about the homes we all leave behind, delivered by a road warrior who's been carving out his signature sound with every album. It's a powerful mix, and while Posen has never been shy about honouring his influences, the album simply sounds like him.

"Every record is the sound of me finding myself, more and more," he says. "I'm not just a songwriter and I'm not just a guitarist. I'm both of those things. I'm taking these worlds that I feel very connected to, and I'm combining them together, leaning in either direction whenever I want. With Bannatyne, the idea was to be a little dirtier, rawer, and unpolished in my performances. I didn't worry about chasing absolute perfection and cleanliness. I just stuck with whatever felt right."

Co-produced by Posen and longtime collaborator Murray Pulver, Bannatyne certainly feels right. This is Posen's unique vision of electrified roots music: song-driven, fretwork-fueled, and unmistakably his own.

"Some songs don’t belong on albums; they drift at the edges, strange and beautiful in their own way." Those are the words of Geoffroy as he releases the new double-single from his Field Study concept - bringing together loose stories and ideas from life as an independent singer-songwriter. Geoffroy intends to serialize the Field Study concept, using it to chronicle life through song. It's a sort of musical notebook for moments that catch his attention and ultimately turn into songs.

The idea began with the single "Good Call" released late last year and is continued today with "Piece of Art", penned with Toronto artist Duncan Hood. "This one is a reflection of an old love, like finding a photograph of a former lover,” explains Geoffroy. “Both familiar and distant, a piece of art from another life."

Previous single "Good Call" was born during a studio session with Montreal producer Connor Seidel. It captures a conversation between two friends: one offering perspective and advice in the verses, the other reflecting in return in the choruses. "That day, we were also planning a small retreat in the woods. Psychedelics, music, and introspection were in the air," Geoffroy reflects. "So when the instrumental came together, that energy - the feeling of perspective shifting, of letting go and seeing things differently - naturally found its way into the song."

MORE ABOUT GEOFFROY
Geoffroy is an essential and emerging voice in Canadian music. Now three LPs into a career that has solidified him as one of Quebec’s best artists, the Montreal-born songwriter and producer recently released his fourth full-length, Good Boy.

Almost 10 years removed from his first release, this project was sparked with the intention of creating Geoffroy’s most authentic work to date, blending organic instrumentation and electronic elements into a bright and rich album filled with diverse sounds, a collection of songs that moves beyond the brooding depth that has defined recent works.

“A collection of songs imbued with the warm glow of understanding the gradual melt of fusing into who we're meant to become.” Exclaim!, 2026 Most Anticipated Albums

Today, Dana Sipos is releasing her new album, Golden Molten. To help celebrate the occasion, the songwriter is sharing album track “Gemstone”, a song which “encapsulates the whole feeling of Golden Molten and crisscrosses the albums' central theme; Once you are put under a certain pressurized situation or cracked open, how are you changed and what is revealed under the surface?” says Sipos.

“Of course many things will be revealed or will continue to be revealed slowly over time. And there are many ways to be cracked open, spiritually, emotionally, physically. Although the song is about more than just this experience, the first line was inspired by needing to go in for surgery and grappling with the idea of being literally cut open. I wanted to find some grace in the process and wrap up all these ‘revelations’ - sometimes we're resilient and at peace, sometimes we're grieving and disappointed by life taking its odd turns - with the notion that dreamers can imagine beyond the present moment. All shored up with some inherited protections from my Jewish tradition meant to bring some folk magic into my healing processes.”

MORE ABOUT GOLDEN MOLTEN
Known for songwriting that is both intimate and otherworldly, Sipos creates spellbinding atmospheres for listeners to lose themselves in. Celebrated for songs that hold the complexity of the human experience up to the light, Sipos' anticipated new album is her most personal and luminous work to date. Exploring themes of impermanence and the pressurized process of metamorphosis, the 9 songs on Golden Molten stay grounded in the poetic introspection reminiscent of Dana’s albums and include experimental textures, stacked vocal harmonies and 70s inspired groove. It is a family of songs that feels both immediate and timeless.

The album was forged through long seasons of transformation. In the post-Covid years leading up to its creation, Sipos navigated a cancer diagnosis and treatment, the death of her step-father, love followed by the long tail of heartbreak, the formation and eventual fracturing of a close circle and the recalibration of life’s dreams. Each song’s beginning carried its own endings over the course of their writing, while the sands of each trial shifted underfoot with life’s strange and constant movement. As a result, these songs carry traces of the living memory of their unfolding with, as always, a nod towards the cosmic.

Once again teaming up with contemporary producer Sandro Perri, Sipos and her talented studio band decamped to Union Sound in Toronto for a marathon one day rehearsal, two day recording session. Tracked mostly live off the floor, the compressed time frame built an intensity in the room that supported a real collaborative effort. Dana and the band responded to each other instinctively, the trust built up over their years of creating albums together, and didn’t overthink choices. Sipos’ evocative voice and vivid lyricism are supported by the band with sometimes spacious, often textural and always deliberate arrangements steered by the light touch of Perri's brilliant guidance. "We were short on time due to some extenuating recording circumstances, one after another. The studio can often be a bit vulnerable but the timing element added an emotional intensity to the experience, at least for me, that I think ultimately charged up the songs" reflects Sipos. "There were some very fun moments of course and those "studio magic moments," but it was unexpectedly emotional as well." As a result, the songs that make up Golden Molten are fully present are unguarded.

Golden Molten confirms Sipos as a singular presence in contemporary folk music—a deeply reflective artist attuned to both the fragility and resilience of the human experience. Writing that honours time and her travellers, and holds in her hands the many faces of loss and change. This is not a record rushed into the world, but with its slow burn and soft glow, Golden Molten reminds us that transformations are rarely instantaneous—but slowly shaped by the heat of life until they take on a new shape.

Recently, on CBC Q, Sipos and guest host Garvia Bailey discussed album single “Soft Feeling” and more, listen to their conversation HERE.

Beginning March 25, Dana Sipos will celebrate the release of Golden Molten with a twenty one date tour from B.C. to Ontario and back again. All dates will be with Miina.
