“The singer, whose beats call upon both Congolese sounds and electro-pop” The New Yorker

“It’s a fluid, immersive work, vast but cohesive, elusive of genre, border, or trend. And it makes a case for the potential for anyone — and possibly everyone — to embody a more open, enlightened way to live.” Rolling Stone

Since his Polaris Music Prize win in 2022 for the album José Louis and the Paradox of Love, Pierre Kwenders has traveled the world, with tours across Canada, holidays in Africa and Europe. Today he returns with the new single “I Wanna Know”, and a new chapter begins. Alongside Poté, featured artist and co-producer, the track captures a summery nostalgia, fueled by desire, heated and dance energy. As the first snippet into his new era, “I Wanna Know” marks Pierre Kwender’s return with new Canadian dates, his first since his Polaris consecration.

“I Wanna Know” celebrates “the spark of life that you feel when love is born,” explains Kwenders. “That unbearable urge to know everything about the person you love. There’s only one mystery to discover… and it’s you!”

“Gizmo balance '90s slacker rock with mud-caked power-pop, and "Gift Shop"
is a testament to that.” - Stereogum

This Friday, Gizmo will release their debut full-length, All Your Worships, out via Victory Pool Records. The album comes roaring out of the gate, picking up right where 2023’s livewire Buddy System EP left off without skipping a beat. The new material finds the band mining similar sources but reaching new heights, imbuing their carefully considered, structurally ambitious power-pop songwriting with more unexpected twists and turns.

“The songs on All Your Worships were brought to life between 2022 and 2025,” explains frontman Julien Kitson. “The thematic inspiration of the album stems from various things. Lyrically, ‘stream of consciousness’ writing has always been a style of ours, although some of the album’s songs have more of a direct approach. Late-night TV, playing tourist, and abandoned establishments are just a few of the lyrical inspirations, as well as translating rather dismal periods of our lives into song.

“Aside from our previous release, this album was very much a collective project. During the years of us putting this material together, each band member would bring ideas to our old basement rehearsal space, which was utilized in 2023-2024 and covered in spray paint from its previous owners. This basement was an integral part of the album process and is where most of the songs were fleshed out. Come February 2025, we relocated our basement rehearsal space to a hall in Great Village, Nova Scotia, to record these songs with Alex Edkins and Loel Campbell in a span of 8 days. These recording sessions, which were captured by photographer Justin Rix, formed a special bond between everyone involved.”

To help celebrate the album’s release, Gizmo is sharing the new video for “Walking The Floor”, the second to last song written for the album. “This song was a combination of attempting to translate life events into song as well as tipping my hat to country and western music,” continues Kitson. “The song title/closing lyric of the song is a nod to/play-off of ‘Walking the Floor Over You’ by Ernest Tubb. The term ‘walking the floor’ was heavily used in country music of the 1930’s and 40’s as a metaphor of heartbreak and restlessness. ‘Walking The Floor’ is a lyrical reimagining of that through a power pop-esque lens (early demos of this song were a Big Star attempt). For a while, it was pretty difficult to write about real life topics, but somehow paying homage to country and western music was my gateway to comfort in that department.”

MORE ABOUT ALL YOUR WORSHIPS
Gizmo are Charlottetown rockers inspired by the guitar-damaged pop of 1990s American slacker bands and their contemporaries on Canada’s east coast. A 120 Minutes band for the Gen Z set, they breathe new life into their vintage influences with a distinctive songwriting style and a frenetic live show.

To record their debut album, All Your Worships, the band decamped to a converted community hall in Great Village, Nova Scotia with co-producers Alex Edkins (METZ, Weird Nightmare) and Loel Campbell (Wintersleep) in tow. They pulled 12-hour days, sleeping at the studio and capping off nights with drunken music listening sessions. The group bonded over their overlapping tastes, able to share a common language when referencing sounds and direction. Edkins and Campbell mixed the record, with Greg Obis (Stuck, Clearance) providing the finishing touches at Chicago Mastering Service.

The material was hashed out at rehearsals and live shows from 2022-2025, with the band taking a more collaborative approach to composition. This is in stark contrast to Buddy System, largely written solo by frontman Julien Kitson. This time around, each member brought songwriting contributions — bassist Spencer Swaine and guitarist Patrick Stephen take up lead vocals on their tracks “Crystal Palace” and “Faulty Straight Edge Downfall”, respectively. This does not diffuse a clear sense of direction, though. The lyrics take a stream-of-consciousness, observational approach to themes of heartache and coming of age, all topped off by a whip-smart deployment of non-sequiters, inside jokes, and maritime colloquialisms.

The arrangements further compound this unified vision; crisp acoustics, warped offset riffs, melodic basslines, and the laserpoint precision of drummer Daniel Hartinger merge to create an underlying sonic palette. This cohesion is what makes the record's diversity work — standout tracks like "Antiques Roadshow”, “Celestial”, and album closer “Pantone 312” are disparate on the surface, but all unmistakably Gizmo. All Your Worships is a 10-track mission statement from the rare breed of band that arrives fully-formed, confidently settling into their first LP and suggesting a myriad of possibilities for the future.

MORE ABOUT GIZMO
Formed in Charlottetown in 2021, their debut four-song EP Buddy System was released in August 2023. Its guitar-driven melodies and catchy hooks quickly earned them a growing audience and won them Rock Recording of the Year at the Music PEI Awards. Following its release, the band signed a publishing deal with CYMBA Music Publishing and continued writing and refining new material in rehearsal spaces and on the road.

Early on, the band toured steadily, building a devoted fanbase through their live performances, sharing stages with acts like Wintersleep, Paper Lions, Cootie Catcher, and Two Hours Traffic, and playing festivals such as Sommo Festival, Project Nowhere, and Nowadays Fest.

In 2025, following a standout performance at Showcase PEI, the band signed to both Victory Pool Records and Noisemaker Management and quickly landed summer 2026 festival slots at Hillside and Paris Drinks Fest.

TIGA SHARES “IAMWHATIAM” REMIXES FROM DJ HELL, TENSAL & THE DARE

The first single from Tiga’s acclaimed HOTLIFE LP, “IAMWHATIAM”, was and is a war cry, a strident demand for Absolute Brain Freedom. Now, that call for total liberation comes in three new interpretations from DJ Hell, Tensal, and The Dare, arriving as a full remix EP out now on Turbo Recordings x Secret City Records, with vinyl preorders live via Secret City Records.

“Remix packages are my favourite thing to curate,” says Tiga. “It’s a victory lap in a chariot pulled by people you respect. I can’t wait for you to hear what that sounds like.”

Central European legend DJ Hell applies dark studio trickery to the track, disorienting and overpowering the listener in the process and rendering a dense, fractal labyrinth. Tiga asked Hell to remix the track over lunch at the Hard Rock Café on the Platzl. Once he agreed, the two fell into conversation, trading electroclash war stories for several hours.

Tiga also enlisted Tensal, whose work with Exium and Komando Terrorismo Sonico combines with a solo practice of hypnotic, high-impact techno and analogue experimentation. As Tiga puts it: “But what you couldn’t possibly have known until now is that he’s Spanish.” His remix pushes the BPM to 140, driven by pagan trance rhythms and a biohacked synth line that may very well inspire some kid to code us the hell out of this damn digital panopticon.

Finally, The Dare returns with his own take on “IAMWHATIAM”, following his recent standalone remix. The New York-based producer and DJ has become synonymous with bringing the timeless dignity of 2000s blog-house back into contemporary club culture, with production credits including Charli xcx’s “Guess”. In Tiga’s words, the remix is a “brain-off banger that will transport younger listeners to a time before conception, a blessed mind-free state to which we shall all one day return”. He continues: “But until then, it is their generation’s responsibility to reckon with the sum of human history, and that very much includes Indie Sleaze.”

The “IAMWHATIAM” Remix EP is the latest instalment in Tiga’s wider HOTLIFE remix project, following recent reworks of “HOT WIFE” from FCUKERS and Ben Sterling. Further remixes of “SILK SCARF” and “ECSTASY SURROUNDS ME” will follow through October 2026, with Tiga’s album highlights reimagined by a mix of long-term collaborators, established electronic music figures and new-generation artists.

Released earlier this year, HOTLIFE marked Tiga’s first studio album in over a decade, bringing together Boys Noize, Fcukers, MRD, Maara, Priori and Patrick Holland across 12 tracks. The album followed a six-month run of singles including “SILK SCARF”, “HOT WIFE” and “FRICTION”, earning tastemaker support from Resident Advisor, Mixmag, DJ Mag, Crack, CLASH, Pitchfork and many more.

MORE ABOUT TIGA
Tiga, born in Montreal, is a globally renowned DJ, producer, and the creative force behind Turbo Recordings. His journey began in the vibrant chaos of the 1980s Indian club scene before he returned to Montreal in the early 1990s, where he pioneered a new wave of nightlife and co-founded the legendary nightclub Sona. His label Turbo Recordings has since become a launchpad for iconic electronic music releases from artists including Chromeo, Azari & III, Gesaffelstein, Duke Dumont, ANNA, and Charlotte de Witte.

Tiga’s music has always had a fertile creative tension at its heart: on one hand, he’s an underground electro don; on the other, a pop sensibility that lets him write great songs. His chart-topping cover of “Sunglasses at Night” with Zyntherius became an electro anthem, while his remix credits include The xx, LCD Soundsystem, Moby, Depeche Mode and Justice. His contribution to DJ Kicks and original works, including “Pleasure from the Bass” further cemented his place in electronic music history.

With his infectious creativity and a career spanning decades, Tiga continues to captivate audiences worldwide, shaping the sound of modern club culture. Meanwhile, Tiga has toured the world extensively, playing legendary festivals and nightclubs such as Coachella, Sónar Festival, Berghain, Stereo Montreal, and Tomorrowland.
