Steven Wilson’s new track, “KING GHOST”, is taken from his sixth album THE FUTURE BITES, due out on January 29, 2021 via Arts & Crafts.

As you’d hope from a track of this title, “KING GHOST” is spectral and gloriously otherworldly, an almost impossibly beautiful piece that arrives on a low bass pulse and centres around a haunting vocal that slides under your skin and stays like an addiction. “KING GHOST” was the first track recorded for THE FUTURE BITES and is co-produced by David Kosten (Everything Everything. Bat for Lashes) and Steven Wilson.

The video for “KING GHOST” has been directed by Jess Cope who previously made films for Steven Wilson tracks “The Raven That Refused To Sing”, “Routine”, and “People Who Eat Darkness” among others.

Steven Wilson: ‘“KING GHOST’ is one of my favourite tracks from the album and I think one of the most beautiful songs I've ever come up with, powerful in its apparent simplicity. Apart from the percussion overdubs (played by Jason Cooper from The Cure, and Michael Spearman from Everything Everything) the music is entirely electronic, mostly using analogue keyboards to create luminous and organic patterns and tones. Much like the song, the video Jess has created focuses more on rich colours and expressing thoughts and feelings though more abstract images, something that takes our collaboration into new territory.  It's stunning and I'm incredibly proud of the combination of the song and the video.”

Jess Cope: “Working with Steven is always challenging, in a good way. I am constantly amazed at his ability to push the boundaries of his music as he moves with the times. I was stunned by King Ghost the first time I heard it and it immediately inspired a certain imagery in my mind. This track encouraged me to explore vibrant colour, texture and pattern. I worked with the animator I originally used on ‘Routine’; together we explored the use of ‘drawn’ animation to produce some awesome and very tactile imagery for the character in the video. We are very proud of the way both music and video perfectly compliment each other.”

“You can't win if you don't play” is a quote that lives within singer-songwriter Edwin Raphael. Ditching a career path carved out by his father, Edwin is headstrong on finding his own way in a world no longer concerned with archaic traditions. The 25-year-old artist, living in Montreal, uprooted from Dubai, creates music instilled with spiraling emotion, which resonates on both the shattered and enriching moments in life.

Today, he shares his new single “Mild Sanity” (feat. Juletta), his first release since signing with Dine Alone Records. Deeply absorbing and incredibly cathartic all at once, Edwin’s languid vocals and atmospheric melodies take listeners’ minds outside the cruelties of the world’s relentless wreckage. “Mild Sanity” is also elevated by NYC pop singer-songwriter Juletta’s ethereal cadence.

Edwin shares this of his new single, "As with every new day, the earth revolves the same, you live things a little like yesterday, you leave a little space for the hopes of something riveting but it’s rare. But every so often you stumble upon that day where everything is nothing like you knew before. You see colors you’ve never seen before; you stare at the same ceiling but it gives you an entire cosmos today."

DAN MANGAN SHARES NEW PROTEST SONG, “THERE’S A TUMOR IN THE WHITE HOUSE”

Today, Dan Mangan is sharing his new protest song, “There’s A Tumor In The White House”. "Generally, in my songwriting, I’ve aimed for the timeless approach with social criticisms and political notions - never too on the nose, and never too specific,” says Mangan. “We’ve got this bully in the highest seat using the lowest form of mudslinging and name-calling and unfortunately it just seems to keep working for him. The poor man’s rich man. The weak man’s strong man. I just wanted to call a spade a spade - bootlickers, chokeholders, chest-puffers… Is it ironic? I don’t know. Is it a joke? I worry that it isn’t."

On November 21, Mangan will perform a set of all cover songs via Side Door Access. All ticket holders will also have access to mega discounts on some exclusive merch bundles. Tickets are available here.

Over the past 10 years, Dan Mangan has transitioned from a bearded 20-something troubadour playing open mics to earning top ten radio hits, scoring Hollywood films, winning multiple JUNO Awards, and selling out legendary venues like Massey Hall. In November of 2018, Dan Mangan released, More Or Less, his most personal album to date that grapples with being a new father in an increasingly tumultuous world. He followed that release with two world tours, his debut appearance on American late night television (Jimmy Kimmel Live!), and the re-release of his breakout album Nice Nice Very Nice (10th Anniversary Edition), which serendipitously was certified Gold the month it was released.

Mangan had planned to tour the reissue in celebration of its 10th anniversary, but the Coronavirus shutdown put a stop to that. However, as the co-founder of Side Door Access, an alternative concert booking start up, Mangan pivoted the business to host ticketed livestream concerts and has been holding regular events for thousands of fans throughout the pandemic.
